so please a vague answer won t help me and apparently others as well..be specific

PS i have also done somework with winSCP..i have downloaded ibrick (although i totally ignored it),and many other tools

and NO this was not a joke
What are you trying to do?
Are you trying to jailbreak/activate/unlock your 1.1.1 iphone?
Are you planning to stay at 1.1.1 firmware or are you planning something else so you can upgrade ?
Was your phone running 1.1.1 firmware and somehow you lost the jailbreak & activation ?

first thank you all for yr quick answers. i see that i did not make clear my purpose.. so, the problem began when the hard drive of my PC had a few problems, therefore i had to change it. WHen i did, the iphone could not find my music and a movie at its correct location in the h.disk. Sync was not being done properly for that reason and itunes displayed some errors when on dock! i tried to delete my music and the movie ..just to find a way around this problem..but it made things worse!!!although the movie was deleted from the phone (and thus could not be played)..when i docked and "sometimes" it tried to sync... the deleted filed (music +the movie) were back on the list BUT there was nothing to display!!
for these reasons i thought right to restore and get rid of these problems..

    and so i did...

So now i need to jailbreak/activate/unlock back from the start. i have 1.1.1 OTB (bought on october 2007) and i had never upgraded to another firmware.
dtube since u ask, and to be honest i haven t looked into it much, can i go directly to another firmware eg 1.1.2 or 1.1.4? i have the impression that i need to jailbreak 1.1.1 first and then upgrade??at least that s what i read in iclarified's tutorial for 1.1.2 upgrade. or can i upgrade to 2 version directly (with iliberty)??

If i have to j/act./unlock 1.1.1 first, then that is my purpose and i will save myself for upgrades in the near future (because i really need to be able to make some calls these days) ; otherwise i will directly upgrade.

jazn54..i see what u recommended, and it seems right..can others confirm this as well?
btw...i restored 1.1.1 as i wrote above and i tried iliberty to see what it would come up with ...and it could not go into recovery mode. (so i thought that maybe it s not for 1.1.1 firmware..and abandoned this method)

Your phone was OTB 1.1.1 and you were running 1.1.1 firmware, that's good. You CAN go to 1.1.4 or higher directly by putting the phone in DFU mode and restore it with the correct firmware. You need to download these firmware to you computer first.

    - if you want to be at 1.1.4, you can use iLiberty+ to J/A/Unlock.
Use the guide by volkspost to do this or tutorials from iclarify.

    - if you want to be at 2.0.2 (latest), you can use QuickPwn 1.5.1 RC3 or wait for winpwn 2.5 to come out today.

When you are done, the first time you sync the phone with itunes, it will ask if you want restore from old backup or setup as new phone. Select "setup as new phone".

What the other poster said is for his phone, not your phone. He did not know the history of your phone to make that suggestion. He hijacked your thread, put in his own problem, fixed it himself and suggested you do the same. His phone and your phone are different. The reason you can go directly to any higher firmware version is because you never had 1.0.2 fw unlocked on your phone.
