I just followed the guide at acujo.com very nice and easy tutorial worked like a charm.
OK, so if I restore back to 1.1.3 and use zipphone to activate and jailbreak but not to unlock, then it leaves my bootloader alone? If I click to unlock part of the unlock process messes with the bootloader, which you can't restore from???

    Clarification? I'm a little confused.

Thanks for the advice by the way.

Just download ZiPhone 2.3 and use the GUI located inside not the command line version GUI much easier I myself could not get the command line to work. I assume you have 4.6 BL just resore to 1.1.3 and run the GUI and click on activate jailbreak and unlock and no it wont touch your bootloader just make sure you do not check the downgrade bootloader box of course and you will be all set thanks. I should also say do not click i repeat DO NOT CLICK 4.6 BAT in the files that will definetly downgrade your bootloader which in your case you do not want to do.

    - Incorrect sim message (i know this is related to the baseband being newer)

    - when you take pictures with the camera, it looks ok in the viewfinder, and then once it captures the image gets a green hue

-seems to have a reverse headphone jack issue. no system sounds or youtube through the speaker or anywhere, then once you plug the headphone jack in instead of coming out through the earpiece you can hear the sounds out of the speaker. Tried to wiggle/pull the jack in or out and it didn't work. Someone said that if you disconnect it during a ipod playing song that will work, but i can't connect t itunes due to the incorrect sim message.

I am at the point of trying a full restore but want to avoid it if possible, will some of this crap go away if I update and jailbreak all the way up to 1.1.3??

    I pretty stuck here...

I had the same issue on a friend's 16GB. From a previous, unsuccessful unlock attempt it was on 1.1.1. After ZIPhone 1.1 I got it activated, unlocked, jailbroken but the headphone jacks were inversed. Using iPhones on either Tiger or Leopard (7.4.2) would not update/restore the phone (IPhone needs repairs message). However, iTunes 7.6 on a Win XP I could bring it back to 1.1.3 but it was locked again (unsupported SIM message). re-run ZIPHone and unlocked it again an now Headphones and Speaker are working as usual. I guess the 16 GB needs 1.1.3 to worl properly. I did not downgrade the BL. Hope this helps.

OK, and if something went wrong I could Itunes restore from this? You are saying that the baseband and firmware will be the only things touched and a restore would fix them?

I don't want to end up with a brick and no recourse.

What is the link to download the GUI ziphone, and when in the process does it prompt you about downgrading the bootloader.

BTW, did you have any youtube or other problems after ziphone?

One more thing, since my phone is already activated, if I restore to 1.1.3 again, would it go back to "slide for emergency" ? will the installer disappear with that? and if I only chose activate and jailbreak, from ziphone could I go back and do unlock at a later point in time?

Here is the link to the software just click the first link that says ziphone 2.3 fast mirror download and you are set. http://www.ziphone.org/2008/02/ziphone-23.html. I did not have any trouble with youtube it worked as normal and yes once you resotre to 1.1.3 again everything on your phone will be erased and you will have to start over so back up your data and if anything went wrong just restore back to 1.1.3 again and start over you will not brick your phone just dont touch the bootloader with this program. It will not just dont check the boxx where it says downgrade bootloader and you will be fine still at 4.6 BL

Doc42H you are exactly right they programmed the 16gb to only run properly on 1.1.3 firmware and baseband otherwise there will be some issues.

Since I have 16GB, will Ziphone downgrade my baseband to 4.02 (1.1.2 firmware's baseband) and cause a problem leaving it a 4.02?

Sorry about all the Q's but I just want to be sure.

Yes thats what your baseband will be and no there will not be any problems since you have BL 4.6 you will be on firmware 1.1.3 and baseband 04.02.13_G because the 4.6 BL cannot run on unlocked 04.03.13_G baseband, only on 3.9 BL there will be no problems it will run flawless the only thing that wont work right off the bat is the locate me since you wont have the newest baseband. All you do to fix that is download the locate me app in installer and run that and it will locate you you have to run it once per restart to get it to work again and it will be fine.
