I had a Simular prob, The Wifi button was there on my phone, but when I try to load up webpages it gave me some crappy error saying it cant find the server.
No sites worked therefore no jailbreak.com - Had to take it to some guy in a phone shop to jailbreak and unlock via turbo sim, Not sure how he did it but he deffo used jailbreak.com coz when he showed me the phone I could see that page on the internet exploer thing lol.
BTW no one helped me out with the wifi thing, either no one wanted to or no one knows
Good luck tho guys!
After a week reading everywhere, my problem still is there.
1.1.2 OTB (4.6) ---> downgraded to 1.1.1 ---> in 'prefs://1F' the wifi button is in grey, I cannot click it and it says "No Wi-Fi".
If I restore the 1.1.2 firmware, the WiFi is back again, but I need to have wifi at 1.1.1 to jailbreak the phone.
Can any of the devs study that? I know I'm not the only one in that situation...
I have the exact same issue. I bought an 1.1.2 OTB off ebay, and had downgraded it to 1.1.1 and jailbroke it and everythign was looking good. I could use it as an ipod and all was working. I read that for 1.1.2 I would need a TurboSim or hardware piece to unlock it.
I bought one from some sketch guy on craigslist who looked homeless. brought it super anxious to get the phone up and running. Some how, I accidentally installed 1.1.3. Fuck.
Anyways, all the guides claimed not to worry that you could downgrade, I have followed every guide on the internet, but no matter whatr version i get down to 1.1.2, 1.1.1, 1.0.2 - I HAVE NO WI-FI!
It is just grayed out and you cant select it. This makes it impossible to activate or jailbreak so that I can get it up and running again, even just as an ipod.
One forum a guy explained that it is the modem firmware that doe sent match the version it will gray out the wifi and bluetooth. But I have looked everywhere, and cant figure out how to solve this situation.
In the mean time i have 650.00 paper weight sitting on my desk for 2 weeks,
Anyone know how to get the Wi-Fi back...?
I think it is a 1.1.1 bug, because if I upgrade to 1.1.2 it works perfectly.
I also have read this issue in the official apple.com forums, and all of them has it after upgrading to that firmware.
As far as I can guess, I think the OS cannot allocate the wifi device as a resource, so it don't mount the wifi interface (so no MAC, and no possibility to click on the wifi button).
Ideas please... ;(
I got the same problem... anyone fix it? I have a 1.1.1 OTB that was upgraded to 1.1.3 by accident. After downgrading the wifi is grayed out.
Hello guys i made a sort of gide for this
Here it is:
1. use itunes 7.4 ( download it from oldapps.com) maybe it works with other versions too, but fror me 7.4 is the 100% working
2. download the 1.0.2 fw from apple
3. put the phone into DFU mode
4. restore with itunes to 1.0.2 it will give you a failure message, and a yellow triangle on the phone screen
5. with ibrickr 0.91 u can kick the phone out of that state ( before dont forget to quit all itunes processes at the process manager )
6. with ibrickr install the pxl daemon
7. install VT100 terminal, and BSD subsystem thru ibrickr
8. get a working 3.9nor file, ant the 112otb pack, and unpack the contents to a directory on your PC
112otb pack can be found here : http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/showthread.php?t=23730
nor3.9 can be found here :
9. with ibrickr upload all the files to your phone usr/bin directory
10. chmod 777 all of them ( i made it one by one )
here comes the fun part: disassemble your phone, and make the bootloader downgrading as its written here step by step:
launchctl unload /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.CommCenter.plist
after this is no matter if you get an error message or not, i mean waiting for data or something like that
if it runs thru perfectly, its doesnt matter too.
sleep 20; iunew
it means that you have 20 seconds to connect the testpoints.
connect them and wait for about a minute, then release them
check out the screen of the phone, normally you get a message " push a character and hit enter " or something like that.
just wait till it finishez.
After all of this done,
bbupdater -e *.eep -f *.fls and hit enter
it will reflash the baseband.
when it finish:
launchctl load /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.CommCenter.plist
it will reload the commcenter
run " bbupdater -v"
normally u'll see the baseband version etc..
from now on, u have correct imei, wifi working, etc.
Quit from terminal, or just push the home button.
Put the phone into DFU mode
with itunes update the firmware manually to 1.1.1, it must finish without any error.
when your phone is booted, u'll see the activation screen.
activate your phone as its written here :
after all make the unlocking procedure with anysim 1.1. Procedure is written here:
2 or 3 days ago i bricked an OTB 112 with bootloader 4.6, it was with erased baseband, no wifi, no imei, no nothing. I went thru this procedure, and i get back everything.
So thats all, it worked me and a lot of other people too, as i received a lot of feedback, not only here, on other iphone dedicated forums too.
If you have any comments or problems, please let me know.
And sorry for my creepy english
He mean Hardware unlock, connecting two points inside your iphone.
I did it and it's a bit hard to open your phone...
Anyway my problem is still the same I have a phone with bl 3.9, but cannot connect to any network outside 169.254.xxx.xxx that is the default network of apple
my two cents...
This is not working for me.
My phone is 1.1.2otb and has "no wi-fi" at 1.0.2 and 1.1.1 (at 1.1.2 works fine).
I did the hardware unlock, everything was fine, but again, the problem is there. My preferences screen keeps showing the "no wi-fi" message.
So, my last chance was to update to 1.1.3 (now I have the 3.9BL, so no problem) and downgrading again to jailbreak, but also didn't worked: no wifi, as always. I already said in my last message that this is a bug from firmwares <1.1.2, and now I'm 100% sure of that, so there's no other solution than wait for a 1.1.2 jailbreak (like the 1.1.1).
i think i am having the same problem but my phone is 1.0.2 otb... bought in september 07... is that possible? i just experienced the grey wifi issue after upgrading from 1.1.1 to 1.1.2 -
