Default From 1.1.1. to 1.0.2 straight out of the box?

    Scenario:

Brand new unit. (never tempered with?
    Put into restore mode
    connect iTunes
Hold "shift" key and restore and point to 1.0.2

Wont this downgrade? As the unit will be straight out of box???

So I get this brand new 8gb out of box. I connect it to itunes in restore mode, itunes updates it to 1.0.2 firmware. Then I use ibrickr to jailbreak it and use this method http://iphone.unlock.no/ everything goes fine but when I insert non ATT sim it does not work nor the ATT sims. I dont know what is going on. By this method same way as I described above I already unlocked 5 iphones and everytime I inserted the sims it worked. Anyone has any clue? BTW I was able to restore it back to factory.

I don't think you can downgrade from 1.1.1 to 1.0.2, iTunes will refuse to do that.

I'm wondering if there is someway to make itunes think the 1.0.2 firware is like 1.1.2 or something so it will downgrade thinking it's upgrading?

    Question

    Hi all,

Would it be possible to brew a "newer" firmware using as a base the 1.0.2 ispf but forcing somehow the baseband version to be larger than that of 1.1.1 and then spoof(*) itunes into updating with that "newer" firmware? this should allow, all those bricked-because-I-do-not-read-the-boards iPhones to be downgraded to 1.0.2 and thereby unbrick them?

The big question, maybe a very silly, I'm sorry, do we know how to change the version in the .epp and .fls files?

(*) this is easily done by changing a line in the /etc/hosts file in your computer and then installing a modified version of "version.xml" in your internal webserver.

    plus,

    Gusano.

Will anybody actually try it with a brand new spanking virgin unit?

This could be sorted out. Everyone is assuming, but no one has actully done it.
We've read that phones which were unlocked, or whatever have the problem, but what about new vitgin units??????????
