1.0.2 unlocked using iUnlock, how to upgrade to 1.1.1 or 1.1.2..?
hi all, i have a 1.0 iPhone here that i updated to 1.0.2 and unlocked w/ iUnlock way back... it is starting to feel a bit sluggish and i have been toying w/ the idea of either restoring it to 1.0.2 or trying to get it into an unlocked 1.1.1 or 1.1.2 state.
there is so many different howto's and tutorials floating around now to be honest i am at a loss as to what method would be the proper path for my phone... any insight would be most appreciated friends, thx in advance all..!

If you decide to go to 1.1.2, just do a restore to 1.1.2 - this will remove the unlock and all changes you made. Then follow the tutorials to downgrade to 1.1.1, use anySIM 1.2.1u etc...

thx for that, should i just use the 1.1.2 that is available directly through iTunes or a previous image to download from somewhere to avoid any possible 'tweaks' apple may have made to 1.1.2?
i am using a MacBook Pro, can anyone point me to the most appropriate (and best explained!) tutorials to use after the restore? my phone has worked so well all this time i am hesitant to even change it, but the additions in 1.1.1/1.1.2 are compelling...
lastly, is there any way to backup all my contacts and sms history that are currently on the phone? would be great if so...

btw, my phones modem firmware reads:
03.14.08_G
this means no need to virginize, correct? my phone was a 1.0 model updated to 1.0.2, and unlocked using iUnlock... thx again for any pointers friends..!~

Yes. You need to virginize.
in your case it is very simple.
add i.unlock.no into your installer source and find the virginizer program for 1.0.2
After that, restore to 1.1.2 then downgrade to 1.1.1 and jailbreak. Then unlock using anySIM 1.2.1u, then oktoprep. After that update to 1.1.2 the jailbreak and activate

thx for this friend, going to try tonight... just about to start the virginizing procedure from i.unlock.no.
so, after viriginizing just connect to iTunes (7.5 on Leopard btw) and hit 'restore' to go up to 1.1.2, correct? and afterwards to downgrade to 1.1.1... do i just reconnect to iTunes and hold down option/shift and select the 1.1.1 firmware file to go back to 1.1.1? i understand all the steps i think once your back at 1.1.1, but the downgrading to 1.1.1 was never clarified very distinctly... any clarification would be great..
