    Default 1.0.2 Unlocked --> 1.0.2 Virgin --> 1.1.1 Unlocked ( MACS ONLY )

You know, screw all those windows tutorials, they are REALLY getting on my nerves, arnt they yours? I mean apple made this damn thing so we should have priority. Anyhoot, i decided this needed doing. I had my iphone 1.0.2 unlocked with iUnlock, anyway this guide tells you how to virginise your iphone to 1.0.2 and then update it to 1.1.1 and unlock it. Simple, easy. ( hey i could do it so you can )
Make sure your iphone is connected to your wireless network, auto lock is to never.

First get this zip of files: http://**********.com/files/64647223..._pack.zip.html

    then decompress the zip file

use cyberduck ( search www.macupdate.com if you need it ) and SFTP into your iphone as root. navigate to /usr/bin/

then upload all those files you decompressed earlier into that /usr/bin/ folder, accept any replacement warnings

then open up terminal and SSH into your iphone so the command would be
ssh root@192.168.x.x ( of course replace those x's with your actual iPhone's ip! )

type launchctl unload /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.CommCenter.plist and press enter

then type cd /usr/bin/ and press enter

    then type chmod +x iUnlock

then type ./iUnlock ICE03.14.08_G.fls eliteloader.bin and press enter

then a load of bumf flies by you should be left with "Completed.Enjoy! " as the last sentence

now type chmod +x bbupdater and press enter

then type ./bbupdater -v and press enter

    you should see
    "Resetting target...
    pinging the baseband...
    baseband unresponsive to pinging
    Done"

    then type ./bbupdater -f ICE03.14.08_G.fls -e ICE03.14.08_G.eep and press enter

    you should see
ProcessOutlineUpdated: Process time was 1 min 52 sec.
    Resetting target...
    pinging the baseband...
    issuing +cpwroff...
    Done

then type ./bbupdater -v and press enter

    you should see
    Resetting target...
    pinging the baseband...
    issuing +xgendata...
    firmware: DEV_ICE_MODEM_03.14.08_G
    eep version: EEP_VERSION:207
    eep revision: EEP_REVISION:7
    bootloader: BOOTLOADER_VERSION:3.9_M3S2
    Done

    >>>>>>>>Your iphone is now revirgnised hurrah... [edit] Thanks 'Locked' for picking up on this error before... anyway carry on with the guide down below!

then i used independence 1.2.5 and jailedbreaked/activated/installed SSH

then click the firmware tab and click 'Pre 1.1.1 Upgrade'
once that is done go into itunes and upgrade to 1.1.1 once the upgrade is complete open up independence and once again jailbreak/activate/install SSH

    Now download anysim 1.1 n decompress (http://conceitedsoftware.com/iphone/anySIM-1.1.zip)
and open independence, customize tab, click applications, then user, click the Add icon top right, navigate to find anysim 1.1 package, click ok. Anysim 1.1 is now on your iphone, disconnect your iphone and run anysim 1.1, voila iphone unlocked.

also can you install AppTapp http://www.nullriver.com/~zigzag/AppTappInstaller.zip
right click show packages, then contents then resources and copy the 'installer' file to desktop and install with independence. Open on your iphone, and in the installer list should be a new verison of installer, update it. Then install community sources, and bsd sub system. uninstall anysim 1.1 and reinstall it and try again. thnx...

I did not need to virginize as I have a new 1.1.1 iphone. Ran the new independence and then installed the new anysim. Worked perfectly and phone is working on american tmobile with you tube and all, plus I am over here in Europe and it is working great!

Everything goes well until I get to the "Pre 1.1.1 Upgrade" step... I launch iTunes, confirm the connection but iNdependence is always returning the same error:

    FAILED
Couldn't connect to SSH server. Ensure IP address is correct, phone is connected to a network, and SSH is installed correctly.

This despite the fact that I can SSH into the phone fine. And it is connected. I have also tried reseting the hostkeys, restarted iNdependence several times, and in general have tried the process a few times over without success.

    Any ideas?

Is it better to use anySim-1.1p (the patched one) instead of the normal?
