All the info is on the forum, but I found it spread out and a bit confusing as most of the info is for >1.0.2OTB, or the older instructions suggested hopping upgrades from 1.02 to 1.1 to 1.2 etc. No need for any of that. Finally took the plunge tonight and took both of my pre/1.0.2 iPhones previously unlocked, and have them up to 1.1.4 now with Tmobile $5.99 edge, Google locator, SMS, Youtube etc all working great! In case this might help someone out there with 1.0.2-unlocked, here're the steps (as of March 4th, 2008 using the latest Ziphone 2.5c):
1. If have an older ie. 1.0.2 unlocked phone, first virginize it via:
http://iphone.unlock.no/#how-to-virginize-easily
2. Download the latest restore firmware (ie. 1.1.4 restore firmware at iphone.unlock.no)
3. Open Itunes. Erase the old phone backup settings (under preferences-iphone) so that you don't end up trying to backup your old iphone settings to the phone. You want to choose to add the newly restored iphone as a NEW phone so that it doesn't import a bunch of garbage and files from your old-firmwared phone.
4. Use Shift-Restore (and NOT "upgrade") to put the downloaded 1.1.4 firmware file on the phone
5. When done, close Itunes and make sure itunes.exe is not running.
6. Run the latest ZiPhone (I used ziphone 2.5c) and choose the GUI "do it all" button to activate/jailbreak/unlock
7. Done! To get T-mobile EDGE settings via the $5.99 plan: add http://sleepers.net/iphonerepo into the installer.app sources. Refresh your sources and install the 'TMobile $5.99 settings' (ie. Under 1.1.3 tweaks) and then just restart your phone.
If you are using the $19.99 Tmobile plan, you can add 'internet2.voicestream.com' into the EDGE settings instead without using that application.
