"That houston we have problem" is an indication something failed in one of those step. Perhaps the tiff exploit did not work (where you punch in the toc2rta site) or you have a PC-iphone connectivity problem. Try again, kill ituneshelper.exe.

The jailbreakme file probably never gets downloaded or installed...

It kicks me right back to the activation screen as supposed, but remember I have a constant message on the activation screen (like incoming SMS box) that is telling me: "INCORRECT SIM insert an unlocked and valid Sim to activate iphone"

This box never goes away, except when I slide for emergency and bring up the dial buttons. Could this messagebox be the reason for my problems?

I have now a working original ATT card inserted, but it's invalid according to the phone. This is only in version 1.1.1, in 1.1.4 there is no box telling my about invalid sim cards, and in 1.1.4 everything seems to work fine.

Is there a chance to get the phone unlocked in 1.1.4 directly without virginize?

Finally grabbed the bull by the horns and did the unlock straight in iliberty!

It worked, I have now 2 fully working iPhones...

So here is in short how I did...

Restored, not updated version 1.0.2 unlocked with anysim 1.0.2 in iTunes to 1.1.4.

Jailbroke, Activated and UNLOCKED the iPhone with iLiberty in OSX.

No downgrade of the baseband
No Virginization!

Just straight on.

I cannot recommend this to anyone, since I had major problems downgrading my software to 1.1.1, after accidentally uppgrading to 1.1.4 from 1.0.2

But my IPhone works.
