    Exclamation [1.0.2] Revirginized issue

i have a 1.0.2 still..i had reverginized it with "the virginizer" like a month ago but panicked during the process and ended up restoring it back to 1.0.2 rather than upgrading to 1.1.1..i noticed however that the firmware version changed from 04.01.13_G to 03.14.08_G after i reverginized and restored to 1.0.2..therefore i am asking if the fact that i now have 03.14.08_G means that it was successfully virginized??? and i want to upgrade to 1.1.1 now so do i need to virginize again???

secondly i had seen that jailbreakme.com was down or giving some trouble..i am thinking of upgrading to 1.1.1 now so i just want to make sure that that method is still working.

any feedback would be greatly appreciated..thanx in advance

When you used "The Virginizer" your baseband was from 1.1.1. Now you have 1.0.2 baseband, which means that it was downgraded by this virginizer. Since the process didn't work as expected, you have 2 options:
1- Revirginize again (You can use "The Virginizer", just make sure you use the one for 03.14.08_G

2- Check if the phone is "virgin" or not: http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/show...70&postcount=2

    Hope that helps...

what virginizer did you use? What did it say when it was finished running? It seems it did work as you were able to update the modem fw (the 4.x modem fw is for 1.1.1). If the virginizer had not worked, your iphone would have been unuseable (i.e., you wouldve known when you updated to 1.1.1). Does your imei no on the back of your phone match the one under settings/general/about? If not, does it start 0049? (if so, thats bad).
As far as jailbreakme.com working, its a bit finicky; let itunes see your phone first, then shut it, and itunes helper (cntrl+alt, delete; check if its running under "processes", if so, shut it down). The TIFF exploit in 1.1.1 is still there, so no worries.

my understanding is that the virginizer repairs the "damage" done by anySIM; it repairs the seczones to make them consistent as fw1.1.1 looks there for the upgrade. I have never heard that the virginiser "downgrades" the baseband. As I have already stated, it looks as if the process has been successful (so need to do it again) as he was able to upgrade the modem and then downgrade. if the virginizer didnt work and you upgraded, you would have seen some code streaming on the iphone or simply a blank screen and an unresponsive phone that would have needed to be restored to 1.02.
he started with 1.02 (as is my understanding from the post); phones that are fw 1.1.1 DO NOT need to repair the seczones. Finally, the link provided will not tell you if your iphone has been successfully virginized, only the sw used to unlock it. All in all, yoy will be fine for the upgrade, just check your imei and make sure its consistent.

I was thinking, he probably updated to 1.1.1 and then he found out that he had to virginize, so he downgraded... (I mean, if he didn't update, how did he have 1.1.1 baseband)
I only gave him the link so he'd know if he needs or not to virginize again. Locked/Virgin iPhones show the message as if it was unlocked with anysim1.1...

Option 1: Restore ur 1.0.2 iphone to 1.1.1, jailbreak it & use AnySim to unlock it...

    or

Option 2: Install Oktoprep in installer (tweak 1.1.1), UPDATE to 1.1.2 & use 1.1.2-jailbreak...then use AnySim1.2.1u & iworld...

sorry, i was posting from my iphone this morning and have found that i made a mistake- You do not need to virginize again. If it was done already, dont do it again.

As an aside, some people use the words 'virginize' and 'restore' interchangeabley. i am following the convention set out by the dev team; "virginize" should only be used to refer to repairing the baseband following use of anySIM 1.0x on a 1.02 iphone (or if you accidently upgraded the modem). some people use "virginize" to refer to returning the iphone to a factory state. intuitively, using this term to refer to this makes sense, however, the correct term would be to "restore".
    cheers

sorry for not replying guys..i was out on the road all day..

just to state again..i started with 1.0.2 (never upgraded to 1.1.1)..i used the virginizer app and it said it successfully virginized my phone (i saw incorrect sim msg)..i then panicked and restored to 1.0.2 as i just wanted the phone working again..i however noticed my modem firmware changed from 04.01.13_G to 03.14.08_G..therefore i was asking if i need to virginize again now that i want to upgrade to 1.1.1 or am i virginized already and i just need to update to 1.1.1? does the change in modem firmware represent the virginization?

btw my IMEI matches..back of the phone to my settings/general/about

u guys are giving me some mixed responses..but if i interpret what vancity is saying correctly..i dont need to virginize again..i just need to update to 1.1.1..as i had previously virginized from 04.01.13_G to 03.14.08_G successfully...correct?

sorry mistajackson (I am for reeeaal...had to be done), lets approach this again.

So, you have a 1.02- is it unlocked (I'll assume yes). Forget all the stuff you had done previously...what did you use to re-unlock it? Was it anySIM 1.0x or 1.1? I dotn think you can get anySIM 1.0x anymore, but if it was 1.0x, then Virginise again (I initially assumed nobody would redo the damage caused by this sw hack). If you used anySIM 1.1, upgrade (you'll be fine).

What's odd is 04.01x is the bb fw for fw1.1.1 and you say you never upgraded; I had assumed you did, and because your iPhone was still working, I assumed the virginiser had worked...I assumed too much. Now that I think about it, you probably used anySIM1.1 to unlock (this is used for bb fw 0.04.01.13), in which case you've never had to use the virginizer.

My initial reaction to Elements comment about revirginising was "why would he ask someone to risk that again?!" some have ended up corrupting their basebands, and now their phones are not repairable (search the forum for bad imei 0049...scary). Ok, off to the lab...keep me posted on your progress (if you can).

oops, forgot to answer your question about virginising- as I stated, "virginising" (as I use it) only refers to repairing the baseband; the sec zones are changed by anySIM 1.0, 1.01, and 1.02 (I think these are the versions). Again, the reason to virginize before you upgrade is that fw1.1.1 needs those sec zones...if there is an inconsistency, boom (thats bad). AnySIM 1.1 is fine to use after virginising. Restoring to any fw will not repair the bb (if you used anysim 1.0x). So, the message, virginizing doesnt upgrade or downgrade your baseband, dont use anySIM 1.0x, and dont unecessarily use the virginizer app.
