Default [1.0.2 OTB] Want to upgrade to 1.1.4, but Installer.app missing

    Hey,

I have a 1.0.2 Iphone (not sure how it was hacked). IMEI is 0113x, firmware 04.01.13_G. I want to upgrade to 1.1.4 and have read I need to virginize, upgrade to 1.1.4, then use iLiberty to unlock/activate. Problem is Installer.app is missing, so I cant install the necessary software for virginizing.

Should I restore to 1.0.2 and jailbreak again?

    Thanks!

You could put it into DFU mode and restore to 1.1.4, then activate/jailbreak/unlock using a program like iLiberty.

You can use iLiberty to erase your baseband (virginize it) by selecting the erase baseband payload. Takes about a minute. When its finished your iphone will say "repair needed'. Do a DFU-Restore to 1.1.4. Now you can use iLiberty to a/j/u the phone.
Another way of doing it is installing the Installer.app using iLIberty (available as a payload) and follow the instructions you already have.
Let us know how it goes.

the probelm with doing what lazyaznboi says is that you risk bricking your phone if your phone was unlocked with one of the old methods (which can be the case if you are on 1.0.2). Erasing your baseband first would be safer.

There is no need to virginize if going up to 1.1.3 or 1.1.4 from 1.0.2. You are ok to restore to 1.1.4 then unlock with whichever method. The problems with bad IMEI were fixed with update 1.1.3 and beyond

Thanks for all the quick replies!

I think I'll do what totono8 suggested and virginize with iLiberty, then DFU-Restore etc. Better to be on the safe-side right?

It won't hurt, I just did exactly that with my phone. After the baseband is erased be patient because it will take the phone a couple of minutes to restart and be recognized by the computer. After that you will still be activated. And you will get a popup message saying that you cant make nor receive calls and that repair is needed. At this point what I did was to put the phone on DFU mode (with Iliberty) and then restored to 1.1.4 with Itunes. After that its the regular a/j/u process. Good luck.

    It worked perfectly!

Did the erase baseband, put it in DFU mode and restored, then used iLiberty for the rest.

    Thanks for the help totono8!

    Thanks for posting back.
I always virginize in 1.0.2 then DFU restore to 1.1.4. Now I learn there's another way to do it (erase BB then DFU restore). Learning something new everyday ...
