Okay, so we're in South Africa and my dad got an iPhone that was already unlocked to 1.0.2. for a horrendous price from a store here.

Can I virginize the phone and then update and unlock it to 1.1.1 or 1.1.2 on Windows XP or Vista? Are there any detailed guides that show step by step? Most sites only seem to have Mac OS X guides and obviously, we don't own a Mac computer and certainly don't want to send it to the shop to have them update it for another small fortune every time. I did find this guide: http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/showthread.php?t=12817 but it's for people who purchased 1.1.1 phones and not those that are already unlocked at 1.0.2.

Some of the reasons I want or need to update are because the voicemail little red number/alert is not showing when there's a new voicemail and there are some other apps that say they are only for 1.1.1 or newer that my dad would like to get.

Maybe I missed it but I did search the forums a bit first but was unable to come up with anything to answer my question. Sorry if that is the case and I would really appreciate any help as nobody replied on modmyifone's website when I asked there after looking around.

Anyone? Can you at least say it doesn't work if not?
