Default [1.0.2 OTB] iUnlocked. Do I need to virginize b4 restoring 1.1.4?

    Hi,

My friend's 4GB iPhone was unlocked using iUnlock. He plan to go to 1.1.4 directly. Can he restore it with 1.1.4 and use iPlus 2.0 without virginizing it first? I remember we need to virginize it before going to 1.1.1 and don't know if it makes a difference with 1.1.4 / iPlus 2.0.

    Thanks.

Do u mean iclarifieds unclock, which uses geohot's gunlock? I haven't heard of iUnlock, used google, and came up with pay-sites (LoL). Personally, and this is just me maybe im completely off but i like doing it this way (if u know how to), i would virginize it manually by going to 1.0.2 then using ierase/bbupdater OR use ziphone's option in the newest GUI to erase 3.9 bootloader (if your on 4.6 then don't use the erase, only for 3.9)

    1. Virginize using ziphone
    2. Refurbish the locks using ziphone
    3. Use either iplus/ziphone's "do it all" option to unlock

BUT if you think about it, u could just use the refurbish tool in ziphone and then simply restore to 1.1.4. U r still going to have the same modem version, and the refurbish will (i presume) restore the locks that were removed from geohot's unlock. Then unlock it (i prefer ziphone). Hope this helps and is informative

you can go straight to 1.1.4, no need to virginize. 1.1.3 and above took care of the bad IEMI you would get with iUnlock if you updated before virginizing.
Just restore to 1.1.4 then use whichever mehod to jb/activate/unlock

Thanks. My friend is "technically challenged" and one less step means a lot to him.

libertybenz2: I am surprised you haven't heard of iUnlock. I think it was from the Dev Team. Here is a link to an article that talks about it (engadget link). I believe early version of anysim (1.0.2 ??) has the same problem.

I was told to virginize when i did it to 1.1.4. Why not be safer than sorry? It doesn't take long and is rather easy. I say virginize, it just feels good.

can one virginize once on 1.1.4? if so, is ziphone's "refurbish" button considered virginization?
