[1.0.2 OTB] Bricked Phone - suggestions?
I have a phone a friend gave me tonight. I don't know what version of firmware it had on it when I got it as the screen would flash black and turn off.
I think it was 1.0.2 OTB.
I have no idea how it was unlocked but judging from how its not working I would guess ZiPhone! Apparently it was working and then suddenly stoped working.
To be honest I am not sure I believe my friends story but I figured it couldn't hurt to have a go at fixing it.
I tried a DFU restore back to 1.1.4 several times - it failed with 1011.
Then I DFU restored 1.0.2, 1.1.1 and on 1.1.2 got a 1604 error but now the screen doesn't even flash it just stays off!
Previously I was cheating and using iLiberty for DFU mode but now I have to do it manually and without any feedback from the screen I am not having much luck. iLiberty does NOT recognise it anymore lol and as far as I can see its not being recognised by the computer but I also know that is what DFU mode can be like until it actually connects to iTunes.
I will keep at it but I was wondering if anyone had some suggestions or tricks for getting to DFU mode easier! I know its a question of timing but I am useless at that! lol

iTunes (and iLiberty) does not detect anything! and the screen is totally non-responsive...or it would be nice and easy!
After the 1604 error on the DFU 1.1.2 restore it just is totally non-responsive.
At the end of the day its not my phone and ill keep trying but I would love to be able to fix it so that I can see what the hell they did to it!

I have no feedback at all from the phone or iTunes.
I don't get why a DFU restore to 1.1.2 which ends in error 1604 would cause the screen to stop working at all and not let iTunes detect it! Any ideas?
I have plugged it into a wall charger just in case it has no power and that is why the screen isn't working... but that may not work...

The screen is totally OFF! no USB noises - I have tried DFU 100 times - I have to believe one of those attempts would have worked as I know what I am doing.
What is wierd is I restore to 1.1.2 and then it dies on me... I don't get it.
This phone is a friends and it was a gift and so its not a problem if it can't be fixed but considering all that I know I can't believe I can't fix it!
(it is also a 1.0.2 otb with I am sure a really awsome screen compared to new ones so that makes me even more annoyed!)

I DFU restore 1.1.4 first - it failed so I tried it 5 times I think.
Then I DFU restored from 1.0.2 then 1.1.1 then 1.1.2.
The screen when I got given the phone was flashing black - and itunes did see it but only when I DFU'd it (using iLiberty).
After DFU I could put it in normal recovery mode but still nothing from the screen.
Every DFU ended in 1011 error EXCEPT 1.1.2 which ended in 1604... which I thought was good news ...
But since that error came up and the iPhone disconected from iTunes I can't get it recognised at all by iTunes and now the screen is not even flashing - it is just off as far as I can see. I can't do anymore restores at all!
I originally thought that the screen wasnt working because the firmware was corrupt and it needed a DFU restore and then I could use pwnage to unlock it but so much for that idea!
I will leave it charging over night but really I can't see a way to fix this. Which is a shame as I bet the screen is really good as well!

The iPhone has been charging all night -not that it looks like it was doing anything while it was plugged in! as nothing has happened - its still off the screen it still doesn't give any response when connected to iTunes and I manually try DFU mode.
Any other ideas?
