Hey guys,

quick question...I have an iPhone first gen that I bought with 1.1.1 OTB.

I gave it to a friend to unlock it and jailbreak it. I think the process back then was to downgrade to 1.02 and then upgrade back to 1.1.1.

He said that when he was upgrading back to 1.1.1, the phone gave problems and he couldnt move back to 1.1.1. I have been stuck with 1.0.2 from the start.

It sucks being stuck at 1.0.2, I cant install many of the apps available.

What can I do? I think there are many tools available now for direct jailbreak/unlock, but I dont think I can just upgrade and unlock. Someone told me I should revirgnize my phone first and then to the upgrades to 1.1.4 or 2.0 and jailbreak/unlock it.

Could someone point me in the right direction please, giving me some steps and pointing the best tools for the job?

You got two options: Either wait for Pwnage Tool 2 to j/a/u at firmware 2.0 or -
if you cant wait, DFU restore to 1.1.4 and use iLiberty or Pwnage Tool 1.1 now.

I forgot to mention, I only have a windows machine. Can I still use those, or are they mac only?

So I can directly DFU restore to 1.1.4 without needing to revirginize??

there are some people reporting not having problems going from 1.0.2 to 1.1.4 without virginizing but there are A LOT of people having problems for the same thing, I'll recommend you virginize first.

agreed with jsalva brother.. dont go on 1.1.4 without virginizing..

I also have a 1.1.1 OTB

I virginized before going to 1.1.4 and unlocking

you have to do a search to find the link to the instructions to revirginize

and you have to search to decide if you want to unlock with iLiberty +, or pawnage 1.x, I dont know which is PC, im Mac, but I used Ziphone (flame suit on now!)
