Default [1.0.2] Forgot to Virginize before going to 1.1.4 > BSD root: md0, major 2, minor 0

    Hello All

I've had my iphone, nearly 6 months now, it's unlocked and it's still running the 1.0.2 firmware.. Due to a bricking scare.. i've left well alone

But i think maybe it's time to get all the new benefits from upgrading.. My itunes is still at 7.4.2

Can someone point me in the right direction as to the safest way to upgrade to 1.1.4?? well thats what itunes tells me is available.. or is it version 2.0 now and need to update itunes? i've just downloaded "pwnage" just a little bit scared to go it alone

Got a little bit impatient.. so i decided to go it alone

itunes wouldn't let me update, gave me the error 1604

so decided to try my original firmware.. got error 2003

My iphone is now stacking with the error

    BSD root: md0, major 2, minor 0

    Don't look good

Cant someone wave a magic wand and make my iphone work again

    Regards

    Chip

you should have searched for a guide, but, you would go straight to 1.1.4 unlss the iPhone needs to be virginized. Then you would have to go back to 1.0.2. If someone could help who has done thus before please I got my iPhone 1.1.2 OTB so I never had to do this.

You know its not always that easy, as searching for a guide.. Because most are for unlocking a 1.1.4 iphone, not updating a iphone thats already been unlock.. And this is where it gets confusing.. finding the right place for the right information

hopefully i'm in the right place now

i've just restored, but i got the error 1604 again

so i'm back to square one

maybe i need to virginized, what ever that means

go to 1.0.2 and install and run the virginizer.
when i updated to 1.0.2 i virginized but a friend of mine also on 1.0.2 didnt coz he fu*ked his up, like in this case, and didnt virginize coz he did a DFU restore

DFU restore rewrites all files where are normal restre only does a select files

to be on the safer side virginize theres no harm

    good luck

PS i suggest winpwn coz custom boot images are really cool

I agree, virginizing would be a safer bet and winpwn is the way to go!
