Default [1.0.2] Anysim unlocked 03.14.08_G upgrade to 1.1.4, how?

Lately my Installer stopped working (closes down by itself shortly after luanching) so I decided it's probably a good time to bring up my iPhone from 1.0.2 to 1.1.4. The phone was 1.0.2 out of the box and I've unlocked it with AnySim, the baseband version is 903.14.08_G. What tools do I need to acomplish that? I am a PC user (WinXP) and will need to jailbreak and unlock my phone after upgrading the firmware as I use it with Rogers in Canada.

Should I upgrade straight to 1.1.4 through iTunes and then use one of the new unlocking/jailbreaking tools? Or do I need to first upgrade to an intermidiate version or virginize or some such? Also, please keep in mind that my Installer does not work, so I cannot install any tools on the phone currently.

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

I got your email. The instruction I have is for a different scenario so I'm going to write you some steps here.

    Requirements:

    - Have the latest iTunes
    - Your phone must have wifi connection (you need wifi so installer can run & download things ...)
    - Download firmware 1.1.4 for IPHONE from apple and have it on your computer
    - Download iLiberty+ for windows.
    - Remove your SIM pin lock code if you have it.

    Virginizing Steps
    :
    - Always make sure your phone settings - general - auto-lock=never (if phone reboot, check it to make sure)

    - connect your phone (ignore the itune pop up)
    - run iLiberty+
    - In iLiberty+, make sure jailbreak check mark is on. Select the installer payload and click go for it. (This will put the installer on your phone). Phone will reboot during this process.

    - When done. Run the installer. If it ask you to upgrade, ignore it.

    - add http://i.unlock.no to the installer sources
    - install Community sources
    - install BSD Subsystem
    - hit home button on phone so your springboard will refresh.

    - make sure auto-lock is set to never. go back into installer, go down to unlocking tools and select "the virginizer". This will run and will take 5-10 minutes.

Hopefully, this will run right through without any errors. When done, your baseband is virginized and your are ready to upgrade to 1.1.4.
Note: after virginization, your phone is LOCKED

    Upgrading to 1.1.4

    -
Put phone in DFU mode and restore with 1.1.4 fw you have downloaded.

To put the iPhoene in DFU mode while connected to your computer you have to
    1. hold power + home
    2. in a few sec, red slider appears, continue holding til phone reboot
    3. count to 6
    4. let go power
    5. keep holding home until itunes detect it or if you hear a connection tone (like plugging in a usb device on Windows), let go of home.

Screen should be black all the time beginning at step 3

If itunes say it need to check for "... version on the server..", let it check, after that you will see the restore button. shift-click restore (Option-click on Mac) and select the 1.1.4 FW you downloaded
DFU steps above are taken from another thread by Volkspost - thanks

    - If you cannot put the phone in DFU mode manually as described above, you can try using iLiberty+ (in the "other" tab) and put the phone in DFU there.
    - When done, your phone will be un-activated and locked. You will see a cable+cd picture on the phone.

    - Run iLiberty+, select jailbreak, activate, unlock, installer and click go for it.

In a few minutes, your phone is ready to use. From here on, you can use installer to add bsd, community sources.

You also want to add http://installer.iclarified.com to your sources. Go to the iClarified section in the install and install: app patch support 1.1.4, region support 1.1.4.

Note: The important in the beginning is to use iLiberty+ to put installer on your phone. If that does not work, STOP. Post back so I can outline a different way to get installter on the phone for you.

Many thanks for your reply, this is exactly what I was looking for!

A quick question - a WiFi connection is listed as one of the requirements, however I can't seem to find any mention of using it later during the Virginizing or the Upgrading/Unlocking/Jailbreaking. At what point will it be necessary to use WiFi?

when you run the installer, it needs wifi to be able to update sources and download packages.
Added explanation for wifi requirement for instruction above

Gotcha, thanks again for being so helpful! Will try the steps tonight.

EDIT: the method worked like a charm. Had a problem with iTunes refusing to upgrade the phone to 1.1.4 but solved it by booting into Vista on another partition and running a different iTunes install. iLiberty absolutely rocks, thanks so much dtube!

That's great. I'm very happy your phone is working. Thanks for the note on itunes though. Hopefully it will help someone else as well.
