I unlocked this phone for my friend way back when and haven't touched it since. Now he wants me to bring it up to date. I've tried searching, but haven't found anything exactly like what I'm looking for. Anyone care to point me in the right direction? I suppose he'd like at least 1.1.1. Thanks in advance guys, sorry if this is kind of a noob post, but I gotta play it safe since the phone is not mine.

option 1 restore to 1.1.1 - - - > Jailbreak - - - > unlock
option 2 restore to 1.1.1 - - - > Jailbreak - - - > OKTO PREP 1.1.2 JB - - - > unlock
option 3 restore to 1.1.1 - - - > Jailbreak - - - > OKTO PREP 1.1.2 JB - - - > unlock - - - > Jailbreak to 1.1.3

To avoid issues especially since it seems the owner doesn't have much experience on fixing things on his own, I would recommend option 2 from above.
