Red face [1.0.0] week 26, locked with firmware 04.02.13

Hi peeps. Well i would really appreciate some help on this matter. My friend just came to me with a phone he bought from someone which is a 4gb week 26 iphone. Now i believe this iphone is not refurbished and was bought originally when iphone was first released. However the phone is locked and i checked the firmware and it says 04.02.13 which leads me to believe that someone updated it and locked it. Am i correct so far? and if so how can i go about unlocking and will anysim work? or do i need to use a turbosim?

If there is already a post somewhere to downgrading and unlocking this phone then plz post the link.

    thanks ppl.

It is possible that someone updated with 1.1.2 software hence you have the 04.02.13 baseband firmware.

The real check is to make sure the phone has boot loader version 3.9
(search forum to find out how to check for loader version - use the search function)

If the loader is indeed 3.9 - you can downgrade the phone to 1.0.2 or 1.1.1 and proceed with jailbreak + unlock. Again, search the forum or read the sticky post by Number_41

thanks for the advice buddy. Now i searched for the way to check bootloader and from what i can see its a lot easier to check bootloader if the phone is already jailbroken. So should i go ahead and bring this phone down to 1.1.1 and jailbreak it first? will it be a problem to bringing it down to 1.1.1 because i believe the phone was a 1.0.0 the first version of the iphone and was updated accidently to a 1.1.2.

hey, I read your message again.
You said the phone is locked. Do you mean not activated?.
Anyway, should not be a problem bringing it to 1.1.1 and jailbreak.

There is a lot of of unknowns
Was it a refurb or not?
If not, did someone upgrade from 1.0.0 to 1.2.1? If so, did the person unlock it before when it was at 1.0.0?. IF so, did the person jumped straight from 1.0.0 to 1.1.2?
Anyway, need to know exactly boot loader version to be sure since you are not sure if it is a refurb or not. If refurb, did apple upgrade baseband + BL ?

It is also possible that original owner is ATT customer, hence phone was upgraded to 1.1.2 and never unlock.

I guess that your phone has old BL but I don't want to outright say it because you may not be able to unlock the phone

hey man really appreciate you replying so promptly. Well basically i went ahead and restored the phone back to 1.1.1 and jail broke it and lowered the baseband and everything and everything seems to be working fine now. Again appreciate the help man.
