Thanks for your help there,
I am still slightly confused. Can this be made to work with the iWorld Apps or any other meathod or do i have to use an o2 sim card from the uk.
Sorry if this has already been asked before but I am confused by alot of the posts

Sorry to be like that, but these questions you are asking have been answered many times over.
An Irish O2 Card will not work in any iphone that has not been unlocked. There is no software unlock available at the moment for 1.1.2 with bootloader 4.6. You could use a Turbo Sim, but these have dried up at the moment.
There is a difference between jailbreaking and unlocking an iphone. All you have done is jailborken it. iWorld only adds support for iphone not supported as standard

Now, this question has not been answered hundred times over. It was very specific to Ireland. While yes it has been answered in the context of other countries thousands of times over, it has not been address at Ireland. Maybe it was valid question as O2 UK operate the Irish O2 also, and dare I say it the Irish network appears to be more advanced!

If in doubt go into an O2 store and ask them! Probably better to say you have a "phone" (rather than iphone) locked to UK 02 sim and ask if it will work on Irish O2 sim without unlocking it. I suspect not as although it's part of the same network it will be controlled by geographical location rather than company.
