    Are there any other sites that are "trusted"? Or is it best to only download this type of software from iTunes? I guess I am always looking for the "cheap" way out.

    You will never be able to download a jailbreak application from iTunes. You should only download from verified sources. In this case, we recommend you download evasi0n either from the download section in hackint0sh (we're reputable, I promise), or from the evasi0n site itself. Other usually valid sources include iClarified and the dev-team blog (for redsn0w/pwnagetool).

    Does anyone know exactly how they are verified? A friend of mine said he came across a site recently that stated it was verified but no real information was listed to go into specific details. I told him he should have known better but he of course did not listen.

    Shoot, I can't find it on the forums either. Looks like we need sam to make an iOS 6 JB files section. I'll ping and see what we can get done.
