Is there a way to tell?
Hi there. I recently had an Iphone 4S crash on me after only 5 days use. I turned it off and on again due to slowness and was shown the "plug into itunes" screen. I did this and restore kept failing with error 1603 or 1604. After many attempts at fixing I sent it back to the supplier who are now TELLING me that I tried to jailbrake this phone.
I DID NOT attempt to jail break at all. I would like to know if there is any way I can get proof (Itunes logs etc) to show them that this phone was not and has never been (or attempted to be) jailbroken?
First and foremost, there is no jailbreak for the iPhone 4S. There's no way you could have jailbroken it or attempted to jailbreak it because a jailbreak doesn't exist for this model and none of the tools will even attempt to jailbreak the phone, even if you point it at the wrong IPSW, etc. Unfortunately, I don't believe you can "prove" this, as the phone in its current state is already proof, and they don't sound like they're accepting that. It sounds to me more like you have a disreputable vendor who is unwilling to honor the warranty on their product, which you may need to take up with consumer watchdog organizations in your locality.
