I heard a rumor that Apple might release another update in the very near future, perhaps before Thanksgiving. I know they are eager to solve the battery issue, but do you think they can get a REAL fix out in the nest 7 days or so?

I usually like to lurk on forums like these, but this is the sort of thing that makes me want to comment. I checked the developer notes this morning and there was no news. Perhaps something is in the works, but I seriously doubt this is anything more than a rumor.

That's interesting to hear. I hope they release iOS 5.0.2 or whatever they are going to call it. I think this battery issue is pretty serious. A friend of mine is pretty skeptical with Apple stuff and got an iPhone 4S for work, replacing his Blackberry. The battery on his phone hits 50% after a few hours. This is convincing him that Apple stuff is just hype and it's really shoddy products in reality.

Hrm, well maybe the beta was what they were all talking about. Still, I find that to be disappointing. The whole battery thing makes me feel like an android user. My friends HTC Thunderbolt gets more battery... and that isn't saying much!

I have a question about the beta thing. When they release a beta version does it automatically update on your iphone 4s or do you have to get it manually?

Beta's are manually updated & available to app developers

I wonder why the developers didn't catch the battery issue. It is something that is very obvious and annoying. I suppose they were only concerned with performance.

If you didn't see the other thread IOS5.1 is out for developers. This makes me want to pay the $99 dollars or whatever it is to get in on it. Of course I don't know a thing about developing so I suppose I will patiently wait.

Haha, yeah, I know a little about developing, but certainly not enough to be considered one. I do wish I could offer my input on new products, for what it's worth.

So it looks like there is an update, the timing was a little off. IOS5.1 is out for developers (another thread for that). What I really want to know is when the rest of us are going to get it. Of course it won't matter for me. I am waiting for my 4s to be returned to me. After a series of unfortunate events (my fault) it got broken.
