Not able to restore iPhone due to unknown error (3194)
I've looked everywhere and every website i've seen doesn't seem to solve the problem i, and a lot of other people are having with the update to iOS5.
When updating just as its about to verify it comes up with a pop up saying it is unable to restore due to an unknown error (3194)
These are the things i've tried to do to fix the issue.
1. Restart my laptop
2. Re-download iOS5
3. Look into my host file which is the same/similar to the one i was looking at
4. Put my iPhone into DFU mode and try to restore.
5. Disconnect from the internet
6. Try another laptop
7. Open iTunes as an Admin (took longer to verify but still didn't work)
I've seen the thread on how to post an error so the following apply with that walk through.
iTunes version - 10.5
iPhone OS version - iPhone 3GS 4.3.5
Platform - Windows
OS Version - Windows 7
Detailed Instructions to Reproduce the Problem - See above
FULL iTunes restore Log - 2011-10-12 17:44:25.926 [5212:10ec]: restore library built Sep 14 2011 at 01:30: - Pastebin.com
This is the only log file i have for today despite trying it several times.
You didn't look hard enough (or just haven't taken the time to understand SHSH blobs and how they work)

Apple has changed the restore method with iOS 5
You must remove any entries in the hosts file that refer to gs.apple.com - the easiest way is by running TinyUmbrella and going to the advanced tab. Untick "set hosts to cydia on exit. Close TinyUmbrella" try again. If it still doesn't work, then Apple has blocked 5.0 restores (as 5.0.1 is now out)
Please read the stickies & search forum before posting! How to report an iTunes restore/update fail in a useful manner
iPad 3G 64GB (4.3.3, Redsn0w) oldest SHSH 3.2.2
iPhone 4 32GB (4.2.1, Redsn0w JB-monte) oldest SHSH 4.1
iPhone 3GS 32GB (4.3.3; Pwnagetool) factory unlocked oldest SHSH 3.1
iPhone 8GB (3.1.3; Pwnagetool) AT&T Locked - Unlocked with bootneuter
