Hi guys.

I have an already jailbroken and unlocked 3GS currently running:
-ios4.0.1
-New Bootrom 359.3.2
-Baseband: 05.13.04

I have never jailbroken myself before. I now I want to upgrade to 5.1.1 which I want to both jailbreak and unlock.

I m not sure how to proceed because there are tons of tutorials out there.

All I understand is
1.I have to preserve baseband since I m planning to unlock.
2.For upgrading to 5.1.1 absinthe can be used.


Help me out guys.

P.s. Running Windows XP (no I don't live in caves, lol), itunes version 10.5.0.142

You need to use redsnow (grab the latest version from blog.iphone-dev.org) in the Extras section you can find an option 'Custom IPSW' which will create a custom firmware, preserving the baseband. You should then feed the 5.1.1 IPSW to redsnow so it can create a custom IPSW, which you will use to restore your iPhone 3Gs and get to 5.1.1 jailbroken, there you can finally install ultrasn0w and get the unlock.
