cydia/jb stuff prior to 5.0.1 upgrade
Hi guys.
Last week, after redsn0w was released, I upgraded my i4 from ios 4.3.3 to 5.0.1
So far, the only trouble I'm having is related to the apps opening in 1/3 of the original size..but rebooting MS always seems to be doing the trick.
Prior to the upgrade, I had a bunch of cidya apps installed as well as some youtube videos I had got with atube. Now, with the new ios, they were all gone. I understand the fact that itunes would not restore jailbroken apps, but I was wondering if by any chance the data might still be somewhere on the phone, just not being displayed
thanks!

Unfortunately, the data is not on your phone. The restore to iOS 5 completely wipes the device, then copies the iTunes backup to the phone. The iTunes backup most likely did not include the folders that had your video in it. Beyond that, you do NOT want Cydia packages kept between upgrades, as in a lot of cases they need upgrades in order to work, etc. A solution for that is AptBackup, which keeps a tally of your packages and can re-install them on a new iOS.
No idea what you mean when you say that the apps are opening 1/3rd of original size, so I hate to say I don't know what to suggest there.

hi n1ckn4m3 and thanks for your response. I looked into my iphone's filesystem and unfortunately you're right, all of my cydia data was wiped clean after the upgrade.
As far as the 1/3 screen size goes, here is a pic of what my phone looks like after reboot:

Uploaded with ImageShack.us
to solve this issue, I have to reset mobilesubstrate every time the iphone restarts..

Do you have Winterboard installed? I've done a few searches and I see this seems to only impact 4/4S users who are using Winterboard on iOS 5.0+. The only known solution is to uninstall Winterboard, and if that doesn't work, to re-restore and jailbreak, and then not install any packages that depend on Winterboard. Do you have Winterboard or any similar packages?
The general thought I can find is that Winterboard isn't properly realizing that you're on an iPhone 4/4S, and is instead displaying the 3G/3GS version of the asset, hence the 1/4th size.
