Default Best thing about the Upgrade to IOS 5

There are a lot of awesome features in IOS5 and despite some minor glitches, I am very happy with the upgrade. But perhaps the best thing that happened was all of my photos and videos were restored. My two year old basically deleted a whole bunch of photos and videos that I took several months ago. I never synced these to iPhoto so I thought they were gone forever. (plus I didn't want to do a hack to find them). So after I did the update, I noticed my younger son, thumbing though the photo app looking at videos I knew he deleted. I was very happy. And I quickly took it away from him and downloaded everything to iPhoto.

This is one of my fears as well, that my photos will be accidentally erased. I have been a little more relieved since the upgrade because I know that my information will be synced in the cloud.

I have kids like that too, sometimes its funny sometimes its not (when its your phone). I ended up having to restore all of my images as for some reason I had the setting to "delete all once you sync", talk about being fuming when I caught the last image being deleted yelling Oh No'z!

Am I the only one not that impress with the update? I guess I did something wrong because I lost all of my music. However, I am still learning how to use the new features.

That's terrible about losing your music. I have a friend who lost everything, including all her business contacts. Were you able to recover any of it?

It's funny, I've also had things I thought were gone forever restored after an update. Then I've had the experience of losing data too. Isn't there a joke about getting and losing random items when you pick up dry cleaning? That's kind of what updating my phone feels like sometimes.

Thankfully I didn't lose anything important to me on this upgrade. I'm sorry for those who did, I know it's very frustrating when that happens.

I ended up losing all of my contacts when I made the upgrade. It also wiped out the contacts I had in icloud as well. Fortunately, my contacts on my computer was not affected so I was able to manually rebuild my contacts. It was good in a sense that it forced me to clean up my contact list.

The best thing for me with the upgrade to iOS 5.0.1 is that I can actually play audio of my videos through my car stereo. Up until now, I could only play regular audio, but now I can play the video version of Apple Keynotes and those Steve Job interviews with AllThings D while I drive to work. Now I don't need to have two versions of the same stuff. It's amazing that an update actually improved the compatibility of an older stereo system (my car is almost three years old).

I haven't tried to do the audio from videos in the car. I usually just listen to my iPod music. I am going to have to give that a try, though!
