Default Will current 3.x apps work in 4.0 beta?

    Hey,

I got my hands on the 4.0 beta and had my UDID registered, but before I do the update, I just want to ask what the chances are for existing apps (Evernote, Shazam etc) to be working in 4.0? Will they 100% surely not work, or might they work?

I understand from the posts in here that it's possible to downgrade to 3.1.3 again, but the baseband will remain the new version.

    Thanks!

Just took the leap of faith, and I've found that all features of the previous 3.1.3 firmware work perfectly. In terms's of App's All of mine are fully functional, but obviously i can't speak for every app, the only thing that won't work properly is the multitasking. It says that they're multitasking but when you select, say, Facebook, it just starts from the beginning... I assume this will be a feature that must be reprogrammed by developers and will be made available in the form of an update. Hope that helps!

Thanks for the info Yes I don't expect multitasking to work right away - maybe first when 4.0 is officially released and the multitask-enabled apps appears?

Edit: Everything seems to work okay (a few bugs here and there). Evernote doesn't run though. If I reinstall, I can get my notes to appear once. After I quit Evernote and launch it again, it just "Loading..."-forever, no notes are shown or downloaded. Guess I'm back to "Evernote Mobile" for the time being

multitasking has to be added within the app. It has to "request" a time limit or function support in background. so certain code has to be added to check if the phone supports it.. then request it. so multitasking won't be available until an app with the code supports it. hope that helps

I wonder if we will see any such apps before 4.0 is officially released? I remember Flickr (and another one) released a 3.2 compatible app 2-4 weeks ago, and 3.2 isn't out yet.

I doubt it. I think that the 3.2 apps were so they could be universal iPhone/iPad apps.

The situation might be the same with 4.0, but maybe not until beta 5 or so.
