    1. You did not answer Olethros' question: Did you UPDATE or did you RESTORE ?

    2. Using TinyUmbrella 's start TSS server on the iphone4 (with stock firmware 4.2.1) WILL put your phone in a loop .... BE CAREFUL.

    3. Using TinyUmbrella's start TSS server on the iphone4 (with stock firmware 4.1) WILL be ok and won't update your baseband (provided you have 4.1 SHSH). This method works only with firmware 4.1 AND NOT 4.2.1

    4. Olethros' question is the key here !!!

    5. DO NOT USE firmware 4.2.1 with tinyUmbrella to RESTORE in an attempt to preserve your baseband !!!
I did answer, I said I click restore, I did this because I wanted to wipe everything out the iphone that might be corrupting the camera app, instead I ended with an Iphone running 4.2.1 and bb 1.59 and all the data still in it including the stuck camera shutter. And Im pretty sure I did choose restore because itunes warned me and ask me to backup all the data and I denied to make a backup since the iphone is sync with another computer and I only wanted to flashed it.
So now im a little surprised in why the BB wasn't updated, and I understood why, but i thought that 4.2.1 wouldn't work with its respective baseband,
and now Im a little worried about what should I do to restore the iphone without compromising its functionality.

    poncex,
    don't do anything yet.
I'm very surprise that your baseband is still 1.59.00 too.
4.2.1 should work fine with 1.59.00 baseband.

Do you have 4.1 SHSH ?

I want to consult with / wait for Olethros to see this and we'll have a game plan for you.

Can you please post the log from the restore? I explain how to do this in the following thread. It can help us and you resolve this problem.

I'm hoping we can find a way to resolve the camera shutter problem.

Also.. there is a console/syslog that you can view without even being jailbroken. There is an enterprise configuration utility that is free to download from Apple. Apple - Support - iPhone - Enterprise

It includes the ability to view the console log, which shows diagnostic information and errors while the phone is running. You simply need to have the phone connected via USB and install/run this app. Then you can try and open the camera shutter and see what appears in the log. If you publish that on pastebin that also - it would be valuable.

Ok I'll post that tonight. And no I didn't have the shsh for that iPhone since is the wifeys and I don't get to play with that one.
Thanks for your help guys, I'm just dreading going to the apple store but I guess that would be the easiest thing to do since I read that the shutter bug is a known issue for apple, a really weird one for sure. One guy on the Internet claims that its a faulty cable connecting the camera and that he opened the phone and fixed his. And the other thing that hold me from the app store is that this whole bb 1.59 issue surprised me, I tought that was not possible and if it's something good I might try to do the same with my own iPhone (4.0.1 bb 1.59 JB)

    Don't do it ...
post your restore log so we can help you first.
AGAIN, please don't try it on your phone. We need to find out what's going with the current phone first
