Default Want to downgrade the baseband from 4.11 to 4.10 on iphone 4

    Hi Guys,
I am here after a longtime now. Just a quick question as i searched in google that many blogs and websites reported that we can downgrade the baseband from 4.11 to 4.10 to make the gevey sim unlock work. My friend has a unlocked iphone 4 and he has upgraded to ios5.
Give me suggestion what to do...

Whichever blogs you are reading are unfortunately incorrect. The iPhone 4 has a less restrictive baseband than the 3G and 3GS, in that when Apple is signing a baseband that is lower than the installed baseband, the iPhone 4 CAN downgrade. THAT SAID, Apple is ONLY signing 5.0.1 now, so the ONLY baseband the iPhone 4 can successfully flash to is the baseband for iOS 5.0.1. There is no known method of downgrading the iPhone 4's baseband when Apple is not signing the destination baseband. There is no way to store SHSH for the iPhone 4's baseband (the baseband SHSH request is based on a random number generated each boot, so a stored SHSH is valid only for that boot at best), so there is no way to use TinyUmbrella to fakesign the baseband request.

    Hi Olethros,
Can you give some info that many local delears are offering factory unlock for iphone 4 regardless of the baseband and they are saying that it is a legal factory unlock they just need the imei number for that. Also one of my friend did that and its unlocked now. Can you tell me how this process works like how can they do it?

I'm not Olethros, but I'll attempt to answer in his stead. The current local dealers that offer IMEI based unlocks are exploiting a back-end loophole in Apple's IMEI whitelist database which carriers have access to. At the moment, this is functional, but I do not anticipate that Apple will allow this to remain functional for very long. Beyond that, though you are activated through Apple's servers, Apple can easily determine whether or not this is a legitimate unlock and remove you from the list by doing a simple scrub of their data. As these companies are only now just coming forward in the scene, I expect it will be as little as a month or so before Apple finds the hole and plugs it, and most likely re-locks any phones that were improperly added to the whitelist.

There have already been reports of unauthorized carriers losing access to their whitelists, though at present, the customers they unlocked are still unlocked. As such, I really don't anticipate it will be very long at all before this is entirely fixed and cleaned up.
