Upgrading 3G iOS 4.1 to 4.2.1

Hi,

I have an iPhone 3G with iOS 4.1, with baseband 5.13.04. I want to upgrade it to iOS 4.2.1, but I'm not sure how to do it. Using pwnageTool, do I need to install the iPad baseband or UltraSn0w will work with my current baseband?

Use pwnagetool to make a custom IPSW that prevents baseband update.

You should NOT install the iPad baseband unless you are already stuck with a baseband that can't be unlocked. (you don't fit this description and if you stay safe with pwnagetool/custom IPSW then you will continue to be okay)

So with my baseband (from 4.0), it is a normal pwnageTool upgrade, as usual.

Yes.. normal pwnagetool custom IPSW that prevents baseband update (this is recommended path for 3G and old bootrom 3GS that have baseband 5.13.xx or lower)
