    Default updating on 27" iMac

I am having regular troubles updating my devices in iTunes.
Whether I am jailbroken or not, or its an ipod or iPhone. i get to almost done then it just hangs and doesnt go any further. i need to start again, but still hangs at the same place...

i have tried on 2 different 27" imacs and i get the same results.
I've read I need to try another mac. I have tried a friends older imac and it worked fine. surely thats not acceptable... surely not everyone has access to various macs....

Anyway, has anyone had this problem and were they able to solve it?

    Thanks

Was a bit of a stretch but it's one thing that has been known to cause restores to hang about 75% of the way through.
