Default unlocked/JB iphone 3g acting sluggish

my iphone is on version 4.2.1 with the ipad 6.15 baseband. recently ive been experiencing a notable degrade in performance speed, load times, etc....not sure if these disturbances are connected with unlocking/JB/etc (it was slow before hand to be honest). but regardless, i think my iphone is due for a restore as this is a common fix for sluggish performance. im aware that this is not exactly simple given the fact that have the 6.15 ipad BB. so how would i go about doing this? any suggestions are well appreciated, thanks

When on ipad baseband you can only restore using a custom firmware, if you restore with stock firmware you will end up in dfu.to make a custom firmware you must use snobreeze for windows or pwangetool for mac

    thanks for the tip but...

heres the next problem. after doing a lot of research i see that the 3.1.2 firmware works a lot faster on 3g devices. so i want to downgrade from my 4.1 (earlier i mistyped 4.2.1) to 3.1.2...and yes im already on 6.15 ipad baseband...is it as simple as making a custom ipsw out of 3.1.2 and booting it up with redsn0w? when i get back into redsn0w do i have to add the ipad baseband again? should i check the "just enter dfu mode". ive been doing lots of searching around the web and i just cant seem to find someone with my exact issue with black and white instructions of how this is done. again im on 4.1 with 6.15 ipad baseband, and i want to downgrade to 3.2.1 but obviously retain that baseband

    thanks again

yes that is the idea , you must restore a custom 3g firmware, for the firmware you want to be on.You should put the iPhone to dfu with "just enter dfu mode", then restore the custom firmware. The baseband will not change so do not install ipad baseband again. As an alternative can restore to the whited00r custom firmware, it had at base a 3.1.3 firmware that makes the iphone work faster, but has modified features that makes it look and feel like 4.2.1.I have heard is working a lot faster then 4.2.1. Can download the
    whited00r custom firmware from here
