    Default Unlock Query.

Hey, after having a good search around the web I thought I would try and seek some guidance regarding unlocking my iPhone 4 after getting slightly confused.

I currently have a HTC Desire with a 3G sim card but I smashed the screen completely. I understand that you can trim down a normal sim card to fit a iPhone 4 but I was unsure if it would work or not on the current firmware.

The iPhone 4 I am now looking to use is locked to o2 and running version 4.3.3 and firmware 04.10.01. Any guidance to how I can try and unlock the phone would be much appreciated.

    Cheers!

Talk to O2, they do authorise unlocks for iPhones.
There are no other realistic options for you (ultrasn0w won't work on baseband 4.10.01, it is impossible to downgrade that baseband and geveySIM is illegal in your country)

You can trim a normal SIM card down to fit - I recommend practicing on a non important SIM card. When I did it, I used a template that I downloaded and printed - however I had some issues with the printout not being 100% 1:1 size initially (verify this before cutting).
A properly cut SIM should work on all firmwares, but you need the phone to be unlocked if your SIM is from another carrier than O2.

Thanks Olethros, regarding getting a authorised unlock, how can you tell when the device has been unlocked? Just try a non-important trimmed down sim?

See this post for details on how to test this without restoring. http://www.hackint0sh.org/f127/18095...htm#post654851
