Hmm, this seems to have been removed in rc19, the option is still there in rc18. This could have been an accidental mistake by the devteam.

That link is confusing the screenshots are clearly of a completely different version of redsn0w.
(I never trust the information given by redmond pie, they often publish poorly tested solutions)

However, yes you do seem to be right - to tethered jailbreak 4.3.5 you need to use the 0.9.8rc redsn0w series.
To flash the baseband to the iPad version, you need redsn0w 0.9.6rc18 or older

These are TWO separate operations.

After a lot of tries I managed to put my iPhone working on version 4.2.1, with iPad baseband, jailbreaked and unlocked.

Is it compensatory to update to version 4.3.5 even on a tethered jailbreak? What are the main differences? I can't update to 4.3.3 because I don't have saved SHSH for that. I'll always lose GPS because I already updated the BB.

Stay with 4.2.1 if you don't have a 4.3.3 SHSH blob.

Not everyone loses their GPS functionality with the 6.15 baseband (reports are this doesn't occur at all with iOS 4.1)

Please excuse my ignorance. I am not sharp on jailbreaks and unlocks, this is (obviously) my first time. What must I do first? I did a jailbreak using 0.9.8rc redsn0w.

How do I change the baseband? Use redsn0w 0.9.6rc18 and if so, which IPSW restore? After that, must I still use ultrasn0w to unlock?

A bit of searching and reading could fix this. We don't have the time to answer the same questions every time.

I don't recommend the 6.15 baseband as your first option. It is permanent and can stop GPS from working. First try to see if you can get an "official unlock" authorised by the carrier the phone is locked to. (AT&T might allow it if you are willing to pay off the remainder of the phone subsidy). Or sell your 3GS in the US and buy a locally unlocked italian iPhone.

My point is that you have other options and I see the 6.15 baseband as a "last resort" option that creates more problems than it is worth.

To change the baseband you need to use redsn0w 0.9.6rc18, it will recognise an original 4.3 or 4.3.1 IPSW
Then you must jailbreak with redsn0w 0.9.8rc4 and the 4.3.4 IPSW
Finally install ultrasn0w.

Again, this should be considered a last-ditch approach, with a tethered jailbreak and a baseband that means you have to jump through hoops every time you restore/update the phone.

I have an iPhone 3GS with 4.3.5 jailbroken, BB 6.15.
I used ultraslow 1.2.3 for unlocking, but no network, just that one small bar of signal. I don’t see the usual lock symbol on the top centre of the screen when it is locked. So, it is unlocked, but still i am not able to get any network.
I have used all methods like doing the jailbreak again, unlock again, resetting all settings on iPhone and waiting for hours for it to catch some signal.
Is there any solution for this problem??

My GPS is working fine with 6.15 BB.. But yes none of the applications downloaded from Installous are being loaded when i sync with my iTunes..

i have 3 gs n update it to 4.2.1 from 4.1 using ressnow .in last process i have made run redsnow in just boot tethered mode now..now os is install and display message that ever time you restart you have to bppt tethereded..
after this i reboot phone and os get again in dfu mode....
please tell me what to do ???????

You are threadjacking - the thread you are replying to is not related to your issue. If you had bothered to search you would find that there are existing threads that relate to your problem.

Your problem is that you likely don't have a SHSH blob for 4.2.1 (or if you do, you didn't provide it to iTunes when you restored 4.2.1)

First step is to verify what SHSH Blobs you have avaiølable for this device. TinyUmbrella can help with this.
