Default Unable to restore jailbroken (greenpois0n) iPhone 4 in iTunes

Recently got an iPhone 4, jailbroke on 4.2 with greenpois0n, DID NOT save my shsh. I need to actually have a warranty repair done, and need to restore (do not care about losing jailbreak).

Right now, iphone is on a recovery loop. Stuck rebooting or at "connect to itunes" screen. When attempting to restore in iTunes, I get either "iPhone Software Update server is unavailable" or the 1013 error.

    What I've done so far:
Tried option-clicking Restore in iTunes to manually select 4.3.2, and 4.2 using iTunes 10.1 and iTunes 10.2.2.
Have tried restoring on separate user account (mac).
Downloaded TinyUmbrella to try and hit "Fix Recovery" but it's grayed out and unusable.
Went to /private > etc > hosts, and deleting the gs.apple.com on the last 2 lines
Restoring both in and out of DFU mode.

What else should I do? I always thought it was near impossible to brick an iPhone, but I'm afraid that's what I've done.

Have you tried launching TinyUmbrella and going to the advanced tab, then unticking "set hosts to Cydia on exit". Then click apply and finally close TinyUmbrella?

Having same issue. I can not restore to a clean Ios. I am getting 1013 errors even though my host file is clean. The only way I can get the phone to boot is after a clean restore I have to jailbreak with Redsnow. I did the option without cydia so it looks clean but still has the filepaths of a jailbroken phone.

I need to go in for warranty work ASAP and need to get this put back to factory.

With recent versions of iTunes, it is possible to redirect the SHSH request without modifying hosts file. So checking that the hosts file is clean is not enough to be 100% sure that you are requesting a SHSH directly from Apple.

Are you on OS X on windows?
