    Thanks for your response. I figured out the sum while i was waiting for your response, but now i am running into an issue installing the IPCC. After patching CommCenter with the .deb package and rebooting my iPhone, i attempted to install the modified IPCC file (i basically zipped the ATT_US.bundle and renamed it to ATT_US.ipcc). In iTunes, i did option-click on "Check for update" and selected the IPCC file but i am getting this error:

    The iPhone "my iphone name" could not be updated.
    An unknown error occurred (0xE8000051).

    Am i missing a step or two here?

    To make your own IPCC you need to put the whole ATT_US.bundle (or whatever carrier) into a folder called Payload (notice capitalization). Then zip that up. This is the file (Payload.zip) you change the ipcc to become ATT_US71.ipcc

    Thanks for reminding me about the Payload folder Can't believe i forgot about this.

    Now that i got the IPC installed, i got a different issue. The Tethering option in Network is now missing. In place of it, is "Celluar Data Network", probably because i added some XML keys. So how to i enabled Tethering with the option missing?

    You should do a reset network settings and reboot... It is probably still in the "state" to believe tethering is disabled. Resetting it should do the trick. You shouldn't need to edit the cellular data network settings...

    Resetting network settings did not help. Tethering option under Network is still missing. I am wondering if it is because i deleted the APN for broadband.

    That isn't it: I did the exact same thing. I removed from the <dict> all the way to the closing </dict> Of course, I changed the type-mask for phone up to 49. The only difference is I made sure before doing any of this that I get the "set up tethering button" like a "virgin" ios4 AT&T install. You don't even see the "Set up Internet Tethering Button?" Oh. One other idea. did you remove all profiles? Settings->General scroll to profiles and remove the AT&T profile you might have. That's the issue.

    Yeah, it's not liking my IPCC bundle. I restored the factory ATT 7.0 IPCC and i got the "Set up internet tethering" option back. I am going to play with this IPCC thing a little more and if it still does not work, i may need your help again. THanks!

    @Steveo:

    Did you have to mess with this file?
    /private/var/mobile/Library/Preferences/com.apple.MobileInternetSharing.plist

    I find that if i change the number from 1020 to 1022 or 1023, the Tethering option will show up with my IPCC. But as soon as i try to allow my Mac to use my iPhone to tether, this option will go away.

    So basically, i am still not seeing the Tethering option. Any chance that you could send me your working IPCC?

    @Steveo:

    Is this how you patched CommCenter?

    iPhone-3GS:/System/Library/Frameworks/CoreTelephony.framework/Support root# dpkg -i cocep-3g-3gs.deb
    (Reading database ... 1867 files and directories currently installed.)
    Preparing to replace cocenosig 1.2 (using cocep-3g-3gs.deb) ...
    Unpacking replacement cocenosig ...
    Setting up cocenosig (1.2) ...
    CommCenter for iPhone2,1 found
    chmod: cannot access `chown': No such file or directory
    chmod: cannot access `root:wheel': No such file or directory
    chmod: cannot access `/System/Library/Frameworks/CoreTelephony.framework/Support/CommCenter/CommCenter': Not a directory
    restarting CommCenter

    I think those errors are OK. When the dpkg command completed, there is a newer CommCenter in the directory. I did a checksum comparison of this CommCenter and the original one and they are different so this tells me it's patched (though i am not sure if it's patched correctly).
