The same has happened to me...no matter what I do it goes back to the apple install, itunes says it needs a restore, then fails it, then says it needs it again, then fails it... error 1015

I even tried up dating the Firmware to the ipad, still nothng...

Anyone please...

What jailbreak tool have you used? Probably redsn0w but what version?
Old or new bootrom 3GS
Do you have SHSH for 4.1 or lower?

Also, the baseband update to iPad 06.15 is a bad idea unless you need it.

The absolute worst thing you can do is to flail around and randomly try ideas. Ask for help and clearly explain what you have done. Also research before updating - 3GS users are recommended to stay on 4.1 unless they are old bootrom.

I have a 3g, and updated with redsn0w 0.8. 4 I think, everything worked fine I backed up my bit’s through Cydia as it asked for future reference but found winterboard worked now and then, no big deal but though I’d wait until a newer version came out. I don’t know what bootrom it had as that’s how I bought it….
I used redsn0w_win_0.9.6b5 to update my previously broken 3g phone. (I bought it that way) I was told to simply keep up-dating with redsn0w for all up-dates . All went well until this time, redsn0w completed, but all that kept coming on was the usb icon, and iTunes told me it was in restore mode and needed up-dating, I couldn’t get rid of it. It up-dated but at that point of just about completed, it reboots, and reports cannot complete error 1015. This just goes around and around and never stops. I've tried Just restoring from iTunes, restoring from a backup on itunes, and finally upgrading to firmware to 4.2, but nothing.

I've tried all the tricks in here too, forcing iTunes to accept a old backup, I've tried re-directing it to a saved boot rom through cydia. I then was asked to try installing the ipad boot rom, so thought I'd try that, as feeling everything else had failed, but the same keeps happening. I was just going to wait for a few month see what comes out and try up-dating then, as I think I've tried everything. I only hope up-dating to the ipad boot rom has not totally bricked it, I'd be happy just using it as a ipod if all else fails…for my music, but can’t get it past the connect to iTunes LOL

Hope one of you good guy's knows something else, many thanks in advance guy's ...

You have so many misconceptions and are mixing up terms all over the place.

Onto actually helping you.
There are two slightly different "connect to iTunes" screens.

One says "slide for emergency" at the bottom - the other doesn't.

Which one are you stuck at?

I apologise here, the connect to iTunes is not wrote ..it's a picture of a usb cable and a icon of iTunes. There is no slide for emergency screen nor ever has been.

I've also just tried the new release 9.6b6 of redsn0w, still the same.

Redsn0w does it stuff right through, then when reboots the apple comes on then changes to the usb cable....thanks for your time…

I've just realised that you threadjacked a completely unrelated thread. So now you have your own thread.

Just because your symptoms look similar - you don't have the experience to say that "you have the same problem". The thread you threadjacked was for a 3GS (normally a tethered jailbreak at iOS 4.2.1) you have a 3G - which does not require a tethered jailbreak at 4.2.1

Okay, so you are stuck in recovery mode. There can be several reasons for this.
Let's eliminate the simplest one first:

Have you tried tiny umbrella's option to exit the recovery mode? The Firmware Umbrella - TinyUmbrella

Secondly, are you 100% sure it is a 3G and not a 3GS? The solutions are very different for the 3GS.

Have you tried to put the iPhone into pwned DFU mode and then restored it with a custom IPSW made with pwnagetool 4.1.3? (this requires that you identify whether it is a 3GS or a 3G iPhone.
