restored phone wont recognize sim now
Hi everyone, I apologize in advance i am somewhat new to this. I picked up an iphone 3gs on CL, and when i got it home and pluged it into itunes it stated that the sim was not correct and to put in the original sim that came with the phone. Long story short the phone is locked to a uk carier. Apple let me swap it out for a new one even. They activated it and it worked for a coulple days then itunes updated it now i get the same message, What can i do stuck on emergency calls only. 3gs 4.0.2

Are you attempting to use a locked phone on the carrier it was intended to be used on with a legitimate SIM? Or are you trying to use a carrier locked phone on a different carrier? Will need a little bit more info to troubleshoot.

The phone is locked to o2 in the uk, when i got it from the apple store as a replacement for the same problem they had it working on my Att sim card. When i used itunes to restore it,it locked it to the O2 carrier.(because the original person with the phone had it locked to that carrier, that is what Hal at iphone support says) I saved my SHSH when it was working on Att can i restore it to that SHSH and use it again?
Thanks any help is appreciated.

SHSH has nothing do do with what carrier the phone is locked to.
You are a bit unclear about when you saved your SHSH.
if your SHSH was saved before you took it in for repair/replacement, then your saved SHSH will not work for the replacement iPhone.
If you saved the SHSH after you got the iPhone replaced, then you can use that to restore to an older iOS version (which can be jailbroken and unlocked with ultrasn0w). However it will not downgrade your baseband if you accidentally upgraded it - that could prevent you unlocking with ultrasn0w.
This is especially true if you let iTunes restore the iPhone today as iOS 4.1 is out now and that can't be unlocked or jailbroken right now.
