    Default Regarding Iphone 3g upgrading

I currently have my iphone 3g jailbroken and unlocked at 3.0 and was wondering if i should upgrade to os 4.0 or even 3.1.3. I read of several issues regarding 4.0; of apps not working properly and such. What is the best route for me to take? I am using my iphone with a tmobile sim.

Your choice. Soon enough, new apps will require 4.0 and you'll need to upgrade anyway. Since you're on a 3G, you don't have to worry about SHSH files or anything like that, so there's no big issue there. Since 4.0 on the 3G can be jailbroken and unlocked, I don't see any big problems.

All of the Apple Store apps work fine on iOS 4.0, and *most* of the Cydia apps (excepting some more in-depth things like keyboard replacements and heavily modified winterboard themes, etc) work with little issue. MobileTerminal doesn't work presently, but you can spend about $3 and get iSSH and connect to your local machine. SBSettings works, winterboard (mostly) works, etc.

I would recommend taking the plunge when you feel comfortable. Unlike 3GS users, you're not really on a ticking clock and you don't have to worry about getting SHSH blobs to ensure you can upgrade to this OS (or downgrade to other OS revisions) in the future, so you've got very little to lose other than time and effort. At this point every iOS revision from 3.0 to 4.0 can be jailbroken and unlocked on your device, so you don't have too much to worry about from that front, either.

    Good luck!

3G users should wait for 4.1 - supposedly that improves performance for them.

Don't mention hacked apps (piracy) on this forum. That's against the forum's rules

Default 3G slow after upgrade to 4.0.1 (jailbroken/unlocked)

I am having the same problems with my phone.. its pretty dreadful and hangs many a times. I have to restart the phone every 2 days.. Also, the battery life has gotten worse. The charge doesn't stay for more than 12 hours (ofcourse with heavy use).. whereas it used to be 24 hours.. so now i need to charge twice a day..
I even compared the loading of a game with the older iphone 1G.. & the game loads much faster on the older phone.. And that too it runs smoothly on the old one but on 3G it lags/freezes at times.

I had disabled multi-tasking while jailbreaking.. and seems to me the phone still loads up the memory with closed apps or something and thats what is clogging the limited phone memory..

I believe the Dev Team should look into this to find out the cause.. and may be disable multi-tasking from the roots..

Meanwhile: I m thinking of downgrading to 3.1.3.. if it helps.

4.1 fixes performance issues for 3G
Did you disable spotlight indexing? That helps a lot

    Doubt it's the jailbreak
