I've been at it for hours, but I can't get past the "No Sim installed" screen. I used redsn0w 0.9.5b5-5 about three times with a 4.0 ipsw but it still never gets past that screen. I have an ATT sim but it doesn't have an iPhone plan and I want it to stay that way. What do I have to do to get my new 3g working?

You're going to get stuck with the required iPhone data plan anyway. AT&T are good at detecting iPhones on their network which are not on the correct plan.

You need a non at&t sim to trigger hacktivation via redsn0w - that is your problem.
