As the title states, I'm looking to restore the Verizon iPhone to factory state; after much consideration, I have decided that the iPhone is not for me and would instead like to restore the phone to factory before exchanging it at VW for a droid X. How exactly would I go about restoring the phone? FYI, I have the SHSH blobs, and the 4.2.6 IPSW firmware file ready to go...
Couldn't you just restore it via iTunes if you want to sell it?
Yes you can restore it via iTunes, there is currently only one (public) firmware/iOS version for the verizon/CDMA phone so it is as simple as restoring the phone in iTunes. That will remove the jailbreak.
If you are returning it, then you don't need to do anything more than this.
What is it that makes you want to go for an android phone over the iPhone?
I had a bit of a mishap with the restore process which resulted on my phone being temporarily bricked; my dad was able to successfully restore it through his computer, so everything has been rectified... Anyhow, I want to go droid for the inherently open ecosystem provided under the Android operating system; there's no need to hack anything in order to gain full functionality
You actually still do need to "root" your phone to achieve full functionality. Some android phones prevent you from doing this, especially Motorola ones. Yes hackers find ways to bypass this but I would dispute that android is any more open than OS X in this regard.Quote:
