iphone 4 - stuck in infinite boot loop

Hey mate, I registered to post this.

When I updated my ip4 to 4.2.1 I jailbroke it with limera1n, and with redsn0w later. The only thing I installed on the clean boot was SBSettings, and it put my phone into the infinite boot. I did the easy way out, and restored it, but I did the same thing again and it was stuck in infinite boot again, so I avoided SBSettings.

The one thing I did wrong was reboot the device without booting it up while connected to the computer, with redsn0w in "just boot in tethered mode".

Well I tried again, 15 minutes ago as of typing, and as I have other issues with iTunes I had uninstalled some drivers from apple inc. Stuck in infinite boot mode again, I restarted the device (holding HOME and POWER) and quickly started the boot in tethered mode in redsn0w.

This FIXED the boot issue, re-installed the drivers, and away I went.

You have to be quick.

First post...sorry if I am resurrecting an old thread.

I have the same problem as the_gts...I dont want to loose the data on my phone with a regular restore. I have recently upgraded my itunes and iphone to IOS 4.3 (not jailbroken) and today after sending some e-mail, it turned off. When I went to turn it on the only response I received was the boot logo loop.

So I went to and used the Data recovery: not just for iBoot-pwned devices
Turned the phone in restore mode, used "Shift"+restore and selected the UPG_....ipsw file. Everything looks like it is working fine until I recieved "The iphone "iPhone" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (9).

Any thoughts? Thanks again.

Please publish whole log (via pastebin) - error 9 is a kernel panic and I need to see whole log for hint of what caused the panic

Step 1
Download: make_noerase_ipsw_r1.exe


Step 2
Drag n Drop YOUR CURRENT VERSION (any version works, 3.x, 4.x, even 5.x) onto the program, and wait till it makes the UPG_blah_blah.ipsw file


Step 3
Put your iDevice into "PwndDFU Mode" using: iREB


Step 4
Download: TinyUmbrella


Step 5
Run TinyUmbrella & press the: "TSS Server" button

(MAKE SURE TO CHECK THE LOG TAB IF YOU GET A WARNING SAYING "CANNOT START TSS SERVER", you have to end all conflicting tasks)

Step 6
Open iTunes and your iDevice will show up to restore, hold SHIFT and click on Restore & choose the UPG_blah_blah.ipsw file

Step 7

Your phone will restore about half way, don't worry you won't loose any thing. You will get "iTunes Error (1013)"


Step 8
Press OK, close iTunes; Turn Off the TSS Server & close TinyUmbrella.


Step 9
Download redsn0w for your device.

Sorry to revive this thread from a while back but I keep getting error 21 in itunes. I read that its a ip address issue in the hots files but I have not been able to figure it out. I found a thread that this issue was fixed using sn0wbreeze and stiching the SHSH file to it. but in the post above it says not to install cydia which SB adds to the IPSW.
