i phone 3G 4.0
Hello. I have an iphone 3G unlocked and jailbroken. I am running version 4.0 with modem firmware 05.13.04.
The phone is very slow and I accidentally updated to the newest version of itunes (version 10.4) so I cannot connect my phone to my computer anymore.
What is the best way to change the OS. version and firmware to a newer and faster one? Will the newer version work with itunes 10.4?
thanks.

Make a 4.2.1 Custom IPSW (via pwnagetool or sn0wbreeze) - be sure to select the "prevent baseband update" option.
Restore to this 4.2.1 custom IPSW - that should work with iTunes 10.4
Reports are that 4.2.1 is *faster* than 4.0 on the iPhone 3G
By "preventing baseband update" you can still unlock with ultrasn0w.
Jailbreak with redsn0w 0.9.6rc19

To upgrade to iOS4 on your iPhone 3GS, iPhone 3G and ipod Touch, you will first of all have to upgrade iTunes 9.2, you can download or upgrade iTunes 9.2 using the Apple Update manager.
Once you have updated your iTunes, connect your device, accept the terms and visit the summary page for the device.
On that page, you will see a button to "Check for Update", click on it to see if the new iOS4 update is available for your device. If there is one you can then follow the normal upgrade process and your iPhone 3GS, 3G or ipod Touch will be updated to use iOS4. Enjoy.
