Help needed! How to restore my bricked iPhone 4

hi,
i'm on an jailbreaked AT&T locked iPhone 4 and had some problems caused by a third party program. So i foolishly decided to "erase all content and settings" without realizing that this will delete my JB as well. I know... i should have checked that before...

I was stuck with bb 02.10.04 since october waiting for an unlock and can't remember which OS version i used. in fact i used a modified ipsw file to JB the phone.

however - the phone was in a bootloop but i managed to get it into restore mode now.

my problem now is - what ipsw file to use? which one is able to get JB afterwards. should i use another modified ipsw? and which programm to use? redsn0w? or should i restore via iTunes?

any hint would be greatly apprechiated.

The answer depends on which SHSH blobs you have saved. Check this with TinyUmbrella.

i run tinyUmbrella and this is what i get:

You need to manually identify the ECID for your iPhone and then create a custom entry in TinyUmbrella (the autodetect doesn't work when the iPhone is in DFU mode)

I've explained how to do find ECID via device manager (windows). If you're on a mac - it's easy to find using system profiler, search around the information is there.

I gave you the information to find ECID on windows (have re-edited the text to make it clearer when I'm talking about windows and when I'm talking about mac)

TinyUmbrella is identical on both windows and mac, so you can use mac screenshots as a guide - even if you are on windows.

ok thx... i know know what my ECID number is... but tinyumbrella only has the "fix recovery" button active... i don't see any baseband info or such...

ok added the ECID manual and managed to save the following SHSHs

iPhone4 4.1
iPhone4 4.2.1

iPhone4 4.3.2

what to do now?

Using TinyUmbrella, you can restore to any of the FW revision you have an SHSH for. If you rely on an unlock, make sure you make a custom .ipsw with PwnageTool so that you don't upgrade the baseband. You can then restore whichever firmware you'd like and then jailbreak it (as an untether exists for pretty much every version you have an SHSH for), so the biggest concern for you would be whether you were unlocking. There are many guides around the forum for using TinyUmbrella or Cydia to update using SHSH, so I won't re-post here -- a quick search will net good results.

Due to the SHSH's you have, you're in a pretty good place to be JB'ing and if you're careful, can make sure you can unlock at a later date if so needed.

Agree with n1ckn4m3 - however I recommend you use a custom 4.2.1 IPSW (made with pwnagetool or sn0wbreeze) in combination with Pwned DFU mode and TinyUmbrella'sTSSServer.

This will reload your iOS to a known stable/solid version without impacting your baseband (giving you a slightly greater chance of an unlock in the future)
