Hi, i have an iphone 3g with att 4.1, im trying to go back to 4.2.1, i downgraded recently, i put it in dfu mode and downgraded smoothly, but now when i try to go back to 4.2.1 so i can restore from back up and get all my contacts, it gives error 3194. What can i do. Please help 911 is urgent
Apple has stopped signing 4.2.1 requests, you need a saved SHSH for iOS 4.2.1
In theory, you should be able to get around this with custom IPSW because you have an iPhone 3G (which doesn't actually validate the SHSH in hardware).
i tried restoring to a custom ipsw 4.2.1 but didnt work, still got the same error
What version of pwnagetool did you use to make the custom IPSW? Also did you put the iPhone into pwned dfu mode before restoring the custom IPSW?
i used pwnage 4.2 and then quit vmware, because im running leopard 10.6.6 over wmware 7.7, i put the phone into dfu pwaned dfu mode with redsnow 9.4

how did you get it to work? i have an ipad 1 with firmware 3.2 and its jailbroken but i want to upgrade to 4.2.1 and re-jailbreak but itunes gives me the error 3194 when i want to update/restore. Ive never had this issue dealing with ipod touches.

Just because you get the same error code, you don't have the same solution. The iPad validates SHSH in hardware (unlike software validation on the iPhone 3G). There is no way to bypass the SHSH requirement on the iPad.Quote:

i stupidly downloaded a cracked deb file, and after I installed it, it put my iphone into endless logo with respring icon...
i have tried just about everything.
i have shift + restored with original and redsnow custom firmware
i have rejailbroke with redsnow (gets to final pinapple logo, then stuck on logo screen again)
I have tried both restore and DFU mode.
I have edited the hosts file to include the cydia addy so itunes won`t refuse my restore.
yet every time, error code 3194.
i don`t have shsh blobs saved. and I don`t really want to upgrade to 4.3 yet, as the only jailbreaks for it are tethered, require shsh blobs, and bloody complex.
any idea what I can do to fix this?
We don't help pirates. Your example is exactly why...
Without a SHSH for 4.2.1 you can never restore iOS 4.2.1 (custom IPSW or original). This is why every second post from the moderators mentions TinyUmbrella.
Have you tried using redsn0w to install the SSH2 bundle?
