Default Possible to jailbreak 4.1 beta?

I'm stuck with a new ip4 with 4.0.2 and ineligible for 4.0.1 restore. I was wondering if the older 4.1 betas have the jailbreakme bug still so I could then jailbreak and maybe unlock a 4.1 beta release? Otherwise I guess I'll just keep it in a box for 30 days in the slim hope a 4.0.2 jailbreak comes out ???

    Anyone try this?

A 4.0.2 jailbreak will not be released - find an excuse to return your iPhone or get it swapped for another iPhone.

Generally beta versions only get unofficial jailbreaks if your device is pwned for life (2G, 3G iPhone or 1st gen and 2nd gen iPod touch). These are usually not from the dev team and as such aren't recommended (likely have bugs and not reliable)

Also... any 4.1 upgrade will upgrade your baseband to a version that can't be unlocked with ultrasn0w. Yes it s true that you can downgrade to iOS 4.0.2 and that will downgrade your baseband also - but only for as long as Apple continues to sign 4.0.2

Is it only 4.0.2 that downgrades the baseband? or would 4.0.1 do that also?

Apple NO longer signs 4.0.1 - so you can't downgrade your baseband via a restore to 4.0.1 (even if you have 4.0.1 SHSH on file with Cydia or cached locally)

4.0.2, 4.0.1, and 4.0 all include basebands that will downgrade the iPhone4 (only the iPhone 4 as far as I know, the 3G/3GS will not downgrade the baseband if a downgraded iOS is flashed) baseband if Apple is still signing that baseband SHSH for that revision.

Unfortunately, unlike the iOS SHSH, the baseband SHSH is generated with a random number (not just the ECID), and as such it's not possible to man-in-the-middle the baseband SHSH the same way that you can with the firmware SHSH. There likely will not be a baseband caching server like there is for iOS SHSHs. This means that if Apple is not signing that firmware, having your SHSH on file for the iOS doesn't mean that you'll be able to downgrade the baseband, even if you can flash the phone.

Hope this wasn't too much information for you based on what you asked.
