    Smile redsn0w fixed the problem

there has now been a redsn0w beta update which fixes the mms/tethering problem and the call forwarding window it also eliminates the anoying "update carrier settings" everytime you open itunes.

    take a look at
    Dev-Team Blog

for the beta download and install over redsn0w but remember to uncheck the "install cydia" box

    the new version is

    Simon,

That didn't work for me. I still get the call forwarded message every call.

If someone sends me the 3G CommCenter I can create a .deb-file for that as well.

@norenred: download the ipsw firmware file and use vfdecrypt on it. you can find the decrypt keys on theiphonewiki

    i.e.

    1. download ipsw and rename it to zip, then extract it
    2. check the biggest file, on 3GS iOS4 its 018-5534-582.dmg
    3. use vfdecrypt on this file: vfdecrypt -i 018-5534-582 -o decrypted.dmg -k <thekeyfromwiki>
    4. on mac osx doubleclick the decrypted.dmg file to mount it, on windows use Magic disk or Magic ISO
    5. browse the root file system

Ok, with the help from stonefred, here is the package for the iPhone 3G. Again, use it at your own risk, I couldn't test it though, because I don't have a 3G.

How to install the .deb file?

Mobile Terminal crashes under iOS4 and AutoInstall folder doesn't seem to be working either.

    Gotta love iOS 4.

The AutoInstall folder should work. Did you reboot after putting it there?

Apart from that, copy the file onto your phone, connect via ssh, use this command to install it: dpkg -i file.deb

    Hope this helps.

    Where would I type that?

    Edit:

I managed to unpack it but I still get that bloody message. I don't think the file works.

@norenred: perhaps you want to upload it to cydia ModMyi.com

    @cosmicexplorer:
    1. Install OpenSSH via Cydia
    2. Reboot iPhone
    3. Connect with Putty (Windows) or Termianlcommand ssh to your iPhone (if it's address is 192.168.0.198 enter ssh root@192.168.0.198 in the terminal console)
    4. browse to the folder where you've uploaded the file and execute the command.
    5. reboot your iPhone and test if it's working
    6. uninstall OpenSSH or change root password!
