Outlook: unlock for 3GS with newer basebands? ever?
There have been a lot of posts that have indicated in the past that there were baseband crashes, etc for the newer versions of the baseband. (i.e. 5.12, 5.14, 5.16) but no unlock has been coming for quite some time.
My suspicion is that the dev team are now chasing the latest bright shiny object from AAPL (iPad's, iPhone 4, etc) and wondered if there is any likelyhood that an unlock for a later 3GS baseband.
The reason that I ask is that, in spite of me repeatedly telling my kids to NEVER update their iphone, one did and my previously jailbroken and unlocked early bootrom 3GS now has a fresh copy of 4.3.3 and the 5.16 baseband in it.

The devteam are chasing a "unlocked for life" solution for the iPhone 4. They haven't had much success yet.
For the iPhone 3G/3GS - the iPad baseband hack appears to be an acceptable solution for those people who accidentally updated their baseband. I doubt anything further will be released relating to unlocks (at least before new iPhone hardware is released).

Has there been a solution to the GPS issues with the iPad baseband?

No.. and one of the key baseband hackers managed to permanently brick a 3G iPhone attempting to downgrade 6.15 bb while testing an unreleased downgrade idea.
Unless people are willing to donate old 3G iPhones that could be potentially bricked for life by such dangerous testing - I doubt that any downgrade will be developed. It's just too costly/risky.
