Read/do some research before asking a question.

JailBreakMe.com supports iOS versions from 3.1.3 to 4.0.1 - Apple closed the PDF hole that jailbreakme uses in 4.0.2- so 4.1 can't be jailbroken.

Wait for the next jailbreak (codename SHAtter) coming within a month that might work for your 3GS.

If you are after unlock, expect to wait til July 2011 (or maybe forever) for an unlock. You should have avoided updating (message has always been - don't update via iTunes if you value jailbreak/unlock until you are 110% sure it is safe)

I'm assuming you don't have a SHSH saved for iOS 4.0.1 or lower, I would be surprised (but happy) to hear that you managed to click the "make my life easier" option in Cydia when you jailbroke the same 3GS on an older iOS version.
