Exclamation Live TV on iPhone 4 possible...?

    Hey Guys,
It's been awhile since I've been around, and I know you all missed me. No need to comment about it Anyways, I've been looking around to see if I can watch Live TV, or any good TV for that matter, over 3G. I found the TV.com app which is (free) an awesome, but it doesn't have all the shows I like and some are WiFi only. I'm yet to hack my work/schools WiFi passwords so that's a nogo. I heard of FLOTV but that doesn't serve the iPhone 4, so also not an option. Lastly, I heard about OrbTv or something, but requires me to buy a TV Tuner Card. I'm not sure how that works and what's compatible so I was wondering if anybody had any idea or more information on that.

    Thanks Much,
    C. Negatory

I use Orb it works nice to stream live TV, Things you've recorded or have on shares, Music, Video, pictures etc. You can also setup webcams and view them on orb.
I wanted something simple without a service fee and something my wife could use on her phone as well. I already had a media center pc sitting there with a tuner.

A slingbox is also simple if you don't have a tuner and don't want to leave a computer running just for live/recorded tv.
Though I think a slingbox is restricted to wi-fi unless you use my3g to trick your phone in to thinking it's on wi-fi

Piggybacking on Olethros's post -- I use Orb as well with an old tuner I had lying around. Works pretty well. Since I don't have a cablecard I end up having to use the IR blaster method (which is a nuisance to set up, but once configured is fine).

Well worth the $5 or $10 that the Orb app cost, one of the most used pieces of software on my phone.

I just want to watch TV of my choice over a 3G connection. How does a TV tuner worn? I'm using a Dell Studio 1537. I run TeamViewer so I can shutoff my computer remotely so it doesn't run all day.

This may be a little overboard for what you're wanting to do in that case, but the software (Orb for the PC) acts as a media server. OrbLive for the iPhone is a client to that media server. The TV Tuner in your PC would allow you to connect your cable to your PC and then have access to the video. Orb on the PC would then be able to stream that video to the iPhone. It would require cable being run to the PC and the PC being on and active in order to transmit.
